DAVID MOYES is close to the end of his Sunderland reign after suffering his first career relegation.

Moyes has been considering his next move since the drop became official and close pals say he may quit, possibly by the end of the week.

Daid Moyes and his Sunderland side were relegated after loss to Bournemouth on Saturday
The Scot, 54, met Black Cats chairman Ellis Short in London yesterday along with chief executive Martin Bain, with his future top of the agenda.

Sources close to Moyes reveal he is so low that he is poised to leave – but he would miss out on a pay-off he if resigns.

Black Cats owner Ellis Short has met with Moyes to discuss his future
The former Everton and Manchester United boss feels he did not get a chance to sign the players he wants but is also willing to take his share of the responsibility.

Moyes and his staff have been looking at players for the Championship campaign next season.

But over the past few week his stance has altered – with the reaction of fans, who have now turned on him, is also a factor in his thinking.

The row over his 'slap' remark to a female BBC reporter has not played a part although he may yet be punished by the FA.

Moyes called Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth, which confirmed relegation, as his “worst day” in football.

But he insisted it would not keep him down for too long.

He said: “There have been a lot of good managers relegated and I’ll use it as something to motivate myself.

“But I really hoped that this situation wouldn’t come.”

Media bollocks as per normal. If, however, there is any truth in the ****e that they write, I am somewhat perplexed that he would come out and state that this would not keep him down for long and that he had hoped that this situation would not arise.
Well David, you did actually predict a relegation fight from the very start and your demeanor from the beginning was not exactly inspiring from both your own and others (particularly the fans) point of view.

That's all just pure speculation and lazy journalism - not one single quote to indicate that he will quit.

Could be, Moyes probably feels he has too much to offer to the EPL to be managing in the championship. Who would you like to see in charge?

To be fair every season where we have changed manager we have stayed up, we've stuck with this one and look what's happened...

Can't make my mind up about this bloke, if he stays then does he inspire fans and players to get us firing again even if that takes more than one season which in reality it probably will.
If he resigns there's not a lot the club can do about that and we look elsewhere which would please a lot of the fans.
Sacking managers in the past has worked in the short term but its not the way to run the club.
Whatever happens Short has to get his next few decisions right re bringing fresh blood into the club player wise and with all his faults Moyes does have a history of signing lower league players and being successful.
However to me Moyes looks a completely broken man and I wouldn't be surprised if he went cause he just dosent look like he's got the stomach for it anymore.
    Time will tell.

Pretty much the only reason I didn't want us to sack him is because it would be adding to our debt when we need to be removing it but if he walks then that's not an issue.

I do think he'd be a good enough manager at Championship level though and might even find his mojo again out of the spotlight. So I'm fine with whatever happens.

SSN Yellow ticker reporting his future is unsure.

I wonder if the CEO had a relegation severance clause inserted into Moyes contract.

The Chronicle are saying that report is wide of the mark and that he's unlikely to leave.
