    Very nasty injury in the U16 game I was refereeing yesterday. Spiral fracture and a broken ankle. Got his studs caught in the grass and when someone came in for a tackle he went right over on his ankle.

    I wasn't aware that you did refereeing.

    Do you just do U16 or have you aspirations of moving up in the Wessex League.

    I have to say that I really respect anyone who gets involved in referring in the amateur game as it can be a thankless task. Some of the abuse I have seen as Wessex League and Div 1 S&W has been totally unacceptable .

    Ouch. My CB broke his ankle last Sunday just landing awkwardly. Sadly he misses the cup final at sixfields. Poor lad

    Did you see that Portuguese player knee the ref in the face recently?

    When I played we were always delighted to get a ref as it gave us a chance. Too often we had a manager from one side doing it and the thugs on the other team took every opportunity to kick, punch and stamp on us.

    I have zero sympathy for refs who take abuse from professional footballers as quite simply, they're the ones with the power to do something about it.
