http://www.transparency.org/news/pr..._anti_corruption_criteria_into_bidding_requir I kinda thought that EUFA was already doing this, it was FIFA that is full of backhanders and brown envelopes.
I've no idea what human rights are like in Turkey. I've been once on holiday and found the people extremely friendly.
hmm Turkey has bad human rights. muslim country and all that.. repression of women. Germany will get it then.
It's a secular country, rather than a Muslim one and they don't repress women. They have a bad human rights record with regard to the minority Kurdish Turks.
It's getting worse, after the attempted coup thousands were arrested or lost their jobs. Then the referendum which has made a dictator of Erdogan. Now looking to reintroduce the death penalty which will end any hope of joining the EU ( not that there was much chance before )
Largely true but their abuse of the Kurdish minority (actually about 20% of the population) is legend, and Erdogans attitudes towards women are well publicised and thoroughly mysogynistic.
Turkey is a sham secular state and has been for quite some time; the only real change is the degree to which the state is being reshaped to oppress dissenters. Patty was far closer to the truth.
