Exactly, and the fact he's "staggered" that it's been raised (even though the exact same thing was raised previously) means he's not thinking terribly hard about how his words can be construed. That bothers me almost more.
Quite. The fact is, if you're talking in the pub with a bunch of drunken idiots (trust me, I know this scenario), things said in the heat of the moment can be forgiven, if they're remembered at all. If you're posting stuff on the world wide intyweb, you can get away with things once or twice, but once a possibly offensive construct has been pointed out, you have to take care. Though we often liken this forum to "chatting down the pub", it actually isn't, because the written word has permanence, and we should all take care what we write. Possibly the most pompous thing ever written on this forum, but you get my drift.
Excellent. Saved me the trip down now I know that. Thanks. . . I presume it'll be as dull and boring as the cup final.
I am just a little bit concerned that football forums seem to be a focus for the just a little bit deranged, life is awful, the whole world is against me, most of our team is crap personalities. Luckily this forum has an abundant number of true, positive, never say die, intelligent supporters!
My opinion is PC doesn't exist anyway - it is a certain group of peoples attempt to justify what the say and how they behave. You are either behaving correctly or incorrectly. There is never any need to mention a persons place of birth, skin colour or even gender in a conversation unless it is actually relevant to the comment or obeservation. The other one I hate is 'banter' or being ignorant, rude, inflammatory and even threatening but if it's called banter it's okay. People should just be honest or at a minimum at least honest with themselves.
This is my mistake, on the original post the way the comment is written it seems as if it is referring to Saints game versus Manchester United but re-reading it carefullly and doing some editor work it seems if the comment was referring to the next Saints game against Liverpool. Rather than infruriate the entire board I'll just give my opinion and with no extraneous comment. No - I think it is unlikely that Southampton FC will get a positive result from their visit to Anfield considering the current form of both sides.
Ah but one time I was a stranger and the other time I was just strange. So you only met a strange bloke once. The other time you met a stranger. With me?
