Exactly why I am on the fence about Monk and I don't really care if he stays or goes. WJ - Bridcutt hasn't been a great captain either but it was Monk who appointed him
Looked up the score with 6 minutes to go,wrote a fookin book about 3-1and you fooked it up,then re checked the score, then had to find the delete button quick..well done, not even you guys can fook up play offs against Scunthorpe.
what a fooking game that was don't normally get all gee'd up but that was some squeaky bum time and the bastard played 7 mins extra time although the board said 4
Couldn't agree more about Bridcutt. He's been an all round disappointment for me this season - with flashes of what I hoped he'd be like all the time. Only flashes though.
Stumbled on this. Anyone spot the most worrying stat? Match Statistics and Facts Stats - (Leeds/Norwich) Possession - 49% / 51% Pass Success - 70% / 77% Aerial Success - 31% / 69% Shots - 16 / 16 On Target - 5 / 8 Tackles - 22 / 18 Fouls - 10 / 9 Corners - 4 / 2 Referee - Tony Harrington. Booked - Jansson, Berardi (Leeds). Dorrans, Naismith (Red Card) (Norwich). - See more at: http://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/football/leedsunited/news/45589/#sthash.efTAi8MJ.dpuf
When you consider Bartley, Jansson and Wood Aerial success is poor however, I assume the percentage drops considerably when Green kicks the ball out from the goal kicks and it is usually headed straight back at us.
Whatever the circumstance, it's still the most worrying stat. Wonder if it's been like that for a lot of matches? If so, why don't we modify our play?
T The more you analyse what went wrong and why we didn't fix it like the team selection, the tactics, the signings, the situation with Pontus, the team captain; the more you think just maybe Monk didn't do such a great job. Glory and a few others pointed out a few times what happens if the loans go back and players like Wood demand a move. Monk or no Monk will it make a difference to stability? We are going to lose Taylor, we did gain Ayling this season. Let's assume Pontus stays, I like him but he divides opinion and we already have Berardi and Cooper. Midfield, for some reason O'Kanes face hasn't fitted, I don't rate Hernandez in the slightest and sadly Roofe and Doukara haven't got it or Monk sees them as wide players. With or without Monk, when that final whistle blows we are in a mess and short on players, we are going to need an extensive rebuild. The only wide player that is ours is Dallas, Sacko, Barrow and Pedrazza are all going back (thankfully) Cooks replacement Grimes is going back (again a good thing) and although Green was great this season has he another year left? Do we wait to find out 10 games in he hasn't? How lucky were we this season that Wood never missed say 8 games through injury? Monk said he knows how to prepare a team for the start of the season, it created heated discussion on here. Did he mean not too many preseason games, not get tired and blow up near the back end of the season or did he mean day one off to a flying start? It matters not as it was a ludicrous statement that was wrong no matter which way he meant it. I said I'm on the fence about Monk but the more it does get analysed maybe I'm lying to myself...
You can butter it up anyway you like Ristac, it's down to lack of proper investment. O Kane for example. Cost 1m from Bournemouth. Can't get near a meaningful match for Ireland. But what do you think 1m gets you. Tell you what, feck all unless awful lucky. Unless someone ploughs 20m ish into building a proper squad, we won't ever see the pl. it's so obvious and staring us all in the face. Grimes pedrazza wheelbarrow all cheap rubbish options and I doubt we're first on Monks wish list
But... None of us were complaining at Christmas time or when they were first purchased or came in (about investment). O'Kane was decent when he joined then lost favour, Pedrazza has an £8m purchase option, Antonsson and Roofe were not exactly cheap, Ayling was great and cheapest of the lot. Hernandez was awful despite everyone saying he was going to be a class act... Monk was given money, he wasted most of it on players who never got a chance or were so poor they didn't deserve a 2nd Antonsson, Barrow, Grimes what was the point? Monk never spent it wisely as far as I am concerned Just had a quick look through who Reading signed with reported fee's Gravenberch - £200k John Swift - FREE Beerens - 600k Euro Kermorgant - £500k Mendes - £350k
I'm not great on stats but would bet Reading started with a stronger squad than us. Remember when Monk arrived we had a relegation quality squad
Don't think its a worrying stat at all, they played on the break so a fair few of there headers would have been uncontested headers from crosses, ours were into congested penalty areas.
Nah, Chesh. More like we were hoofing it up the park & it came flying back at us. I'll tell you another thing that may astonish you - Naismith out-jumped Pontus more than once! Little Naismith, eh!
Not making the playoffs if more a " Other " clubs story than a Leeds one . Reading , Wednesday and Fulham all won 6 of there last 10 games . Huddersfield only won 4 of there last 10 games but they had a more healthy point count to lean on . Leeds ran into some hot teams in the playoff hunt and just couldn't keep the pace . Leeds had a very good season and should be reasonably proud of themselves imo .
Simon O'Rourke@simon_orourke 1h1 hour ago More Been assured today by a senior member of staff at LUFC that the club plans to keep and back Garry Monk this summer. Fantastic stuff.
I want that in writing and countersigned by Theresa May. It's all any loyal Leeds fan wants to be fair
