how the media and big pundits get away with slagging barton off is a disgrace, i mean im sick off it and im very sorry if this is one thread of many but im just putting my point across, firstly song clearly stamps on barton, then barton reacts angrily to a dive (but not against the rules) picking him up no hands in the face no punch no slap, gervinho then slaps him, barton hits the ground like EVERY professionally does. so aparently picking someone up is worse thans stamping on someone and slapping someone? i also watched the sunderland game and does anyone else think it wasnt a penalty? if you watch it suarez actually clips his own heals? and then carragher made a horrific challenge on someone(studds on knee) and got only a yellow? is it because we are from the north east as the things against us do not get mentioned in the paper at all? anyway 2 points lost in my opinion but a solid performance none the less!

in short last nights game was a disgrace 2nd half both teams discipline and football was garbage

well i dont know im a referee and the intent he picked him up with was bad fair enough but why is he being made out to be the worse offender, and also about the going down like every professional does, yes its wrong but if he hadnt have gone down gervinho wouldn't have been sent off when he clearly broke the rules? if referees had the balls to give decisions without people having to hit the deck then this wouldnt happen

Gervinho reaches across his back, Taylor, who surprisingly doesn't have eyes in the back of his head, feels Gerv's arm go across his back, then sees Barton fall to the ground.

 

barton was unhappy because gervinho tried to con the ref, but was more than happy to act in the same way to get him sent off. Does that mean it would have been ok for gervinho to haul barton from the ground because its was a dive?

 

barton got slapped in the face? so he has a right to fall? you dont know actually how hard the slap was, you feel a knock on your face you try to protect it so he got out of the way

I am sick of this debate now though, the fact is all teams try and get people sent off but they don't like it when it happens to them.

 

I think the difference is that Gervinho dived to try and get something that was not deserved, while Barton dived to get something that was deserved.

Arsenal players clearly decided they could wind Joey up. Stamping on him whilst the ref wasn't watching and trying to do the same with the slap. What Joey did was stupid, embarrassing and fully deserving of a yellow card but Arsenal should have been down to 9 men.
