I never said it was true. All I am saying is what I have seen with my own eyes. People can disagree with me, but at the end of the day it is my opinion. Where's the Austin tweet? All I see is him talking about being in Dublin.
Why say anything at all if you don't know the facts? Half of the problem on these sites is people believing made up rubbish and treating them as gospel, and the perpetuating the myths. No problem with people having a gripe if the criticisms are based on the truth, I personally don't think players should smoke or drink to excess, but they are entitled to a social life within reason, they aren't robots.
Have you not been reading? I have seen Charlie out drinking with players etc. That is what I am talking about.
I have never experienced the delights of being drunk, but I have seen and helped plenty who have been.
I would be amazed if he hadn't, some people can hold their drink better than others, you quoted Stephens and Reed, I hope they learned from the experience. I have also heard of incidents of players being given Club punishment for similar indiscretions, but that it usually dealt with within house and rarely goes public. As someone said if they turn up on a Match day and perform that's all right by me.
I remember reading that the squad were given a saliva test on arriving at training to check that they were sufficiently hydrated- if not, they didn't train. I don't think any player who drank or smoked to the point where it affected their performance would last long in the Premier League. What with the GPS, there really is no way of hiding if you're 5% down on fitness.
When Jack was at Swindon he also liked a drink and would have one too many.............and guess what? Charlie was not even in the same county.
They're human beings, not robots Beef, and as CF says, they wouldn't be able to hide it if they weren't in 100% condition to play on match days.
I don't drink and I am not a professional footballer. Soon as I decided I wanted to became a PT I cut out stuff like that.
That's your opinion, mine is different which I am getting at. You may not agree with me (and it seems plenty don't), but I am still sticking to my opinion that he needs to cut down the boozing. If he changes and cuts down when he is back playing then this is in the past. If he carries on I will still feel the same. Like you said we aren't all robots who think the same thing.
He will be back,he will continue to bang in the goals, he will continue to enjoy a pint......no problem in my eyes.
The thing with Charlie is he came in late to the game. I'd like to think he'd be prepared to sacrifice a lot of his drinking and try to makeup for lost time, by focusing 100% on being as fit as possible. Imagine how good he could be if he didn't blow up every game because he wasn't fit enough. I'd like to have seen him really looking after his body for just a few years.
Literally just got back from my girlfriends, only saw the result and heard we missed a pen. Were we terrible or were hull very very determined? Think with a Swansea draw we are safe, which is what is minimum expected but still nice. Will get next thread up this evening
