Too many mistakes, he's a liability. Better to have anyone else in there than him - Ainsley, Kennedy... Discuss.

Still think, in the absence of any other signings, that Ainsley is the best option. Thought Delaney played well yesterday by the way.

I have voiced my opinion on here umpteen times just how bad I think Tommy Smith is and I keep getting comments moaning at me and stating the opposite.

    He's horrific.

    Westlake

I have been saying the same as you (makes a change) the guy is gash and was even a liability at Col U!!!

Still we have put two bids in for new players, hopefully at least 1 of them is a CB!!!

This is all very well, but we have shipped out 3 CBs so far and only got 1 in who is nearly always injured, yet we have so many strikers at the moment that 3 of them did not even make the bench yesterday.
It is just my opinion, but at the moment our transfer policy needs a little more balance...!

Need two new centre backs, Delaney and Smith will never form a promotion chasing partnership. We need to steal a centre back from another Championship side or take some Premiership centre backs who aren't yet getting a look in at their club.

Its v rare we say the same Spanish agreed haha !

    However, Smith is useless.

However, the only defence I have for him is the lads ONLY 21. He could do with a full season away on loan, I don't want him anywhere near our first team.

I think we may have to wait until closer to the end of the transfer window before we can get in a couple of CBs, maybe even after that in the loan window. No prem clubs want to let their players go until they can bring in players themselves. This is another problem caused by Keane, allowing McAuley's contract to run down, who I notice is not even on the bench today for WBA!

Smith's mistake definitely cost us yesterday but not his fault the midfield was so lacklusture. Kennedy, Bowyer and Leadbitter all lack energy and creativity, unless Andrews can provide what we are lacking I think we need to make sure we sign Bullard, he would have been the difference for us yesterday.

McAuley you say may well be weak, however look at last season. He missed something like 14 games, and we lost 11 of them.

He's at least light years ahead of Smith and considerably better than Delaney.

I much prefered Troy Brown to Smith. Eastman was so immobile there was zero point bothering !

I have to say the biggest disappointment at the end of last season was seeing Troy Brown go, GMac I could understand.. Last shot at the big time and fair play too him but I felt Brown did himself no harm when he played for us. On the Smith situation, it's clear to see he has the ricket in him and that has cost us points in the past and will do in the future, however the lad is only 21 and deserves a bit of time, no one last season covered themselves in glory so we can write off those mistakes. This season hasn't been great either but ditching the lad isn't the answer. He was class in the World Cup probably due to the fact he had the wily old character of Ryan Nelson next too him. Something we havn't got in our squad. I feel he needs a long spell on loan at a (good) league 1 side and maybe have a look at him next season, he's been too in and out and Between him and Delaney they really cant organise a bookshelf let alone a defense. So I hope he stays but goes on loan after we sign a couple of class Centre Halves

And Mowbray was better than all of them but he is not here either.

Why didn't we get BAM BAM back here for a final year? He did a good job at Leeds and was always solid at Centre Back. I'm sure he would have jumped at the chance of playing for Town again and finishing his career with us. I guess the only problem would be that he is too young for PJ's liking!
