Without JWP or Gabbi on the pitch, I`d have given the pen to Bertrand or Long to take. Tadic never looks convincing.
Not good at all. Didn't understand why Puel left out Ward Prowse when he has been so good and brings more balance to the side. Thought Bertrand had yet another poor game too, which doesn't help Yoshida out and vice versa.
I think the plan with Boufal is to start him in all the games we have left to give him the premiership experience he obviously needs, then when it doesn't work out, sell him on where he will be brilliant for someone else!
Not going to even bother reading the thread back...Poor, poor game and a bad day at the office for everybody.
That was, hands down, one of the most matches I have ever seen. And I don't just mean from Saints; Hull were dreadful too. I'd have happily seen nine of them subbed off at HT, with Yoshida and Tadic leading the way. Only Stephens and Boufal did I think deserved to stay on. And yet, utterly amazingly in my view, not only did all 11 stay on but when substitutions were made, they included Boufal! The amount of points that we have failed to take this season when, at least in my view, we should be taking them is awful. Especially at home. I'm going to stop there, because I don't want to say what I'm my mind is starting to wonder towards.
The recent attempts to shoehorn Boufal into the team have not worked. It's a bit boring, but you have to earn the right to play and we gave up the midfield and a lot of possession playing Tadic/Redmond & Boufal. For me if he wants to play Boufal, then he needs to sacrifice Tadic. As playing both is not working
At least early season, we were just unlucky/creating chances - that Swansea game sticking out in particular. But other than the Leicester game, we have hardly created a chance at home in the league for months now. We got what we deserved in front of goal against sides like Hull and Bmouth, and were fortunate for a Boufal worldie against Boro. At home to Hull, Bmouth and Boro!!
Exactly. The old more creative attacking flair players = more potent attack isn't true. Need quality box-box midfielders, 1 flair player, 1 goal scorer. Oh and 2 x CDM's
Sorry I missed you all at the pub today. I was rather unwell. I had a bad pint last night, probably the ninth or tenth and it left me feeling somewhat jaded and ready to die. Unfortunately, rather than dying I popped down to St Mary's and realised at about 4:45 that I'd made the wrong choice. Out again in two hours. Hellfire. Vin
What a pile of garbage. You would find more life in a coffin than from that Saints side today. Puel picked the wrong team, and made the wrong changes. Ward-Prowse was such an obvious substitution to make, and Tadic had a shocker from start to finish - yet one never came on, and the other didn't stay on. 1 point from 6 against Hull this season isn't good enough, and today was the worst of some very poor displays at home. Perhaps we need to get a manager in with a good home record (.......Marco Silva......).
