I've seen highlights of it. It was the year I was born <doh>

The fact of the matter is that the game ended 2-1. Going by the scoreline alone it wasn't a mauling.

All if's and buts. It would have been nice to have had the opportunity, though.

Didn't Linekar miss a virtual open goal with his head in that game?

Bobby Robson's England of that era wasn't a bad team at all.

From what i've seen they were a great team. Possibly the last great team with the possible exception of the Venables 96 side.

Don't be ridiculous. Maradona still cheated England out of the match.

he cheated yes, but england still have to win it.

Pele scored a adodgy goal in 1970, but because it wasnt against england he is not a cheat

Theres 2 I would say are more embarrassing. Nani was hit with a dangerous challenge and it did do damage and in my opinion had every right to question why it wasn't a red, yes the way he acted was embarrassing but I consider doing similar things when there is no real contact to be far worse.

He only scored one (albeit a fantastic one) legitimate goal. Had he scored more, there'd be no arguments from me.

We're not talking about Pele, though.

england weren't a bad side at the time just not good enough to beat argentina, maradona was quality and there was more chance of KPR joining mensa than us beating the south americans

my point is, other teams do not moan about injustices like england fans do, when in reality the truth is they are just not good enough

I agree that the Argentines were clearly the better side on the day. However, they did not win fairly.

Yet, Ironically you were incessantly berating Suarez for the injustice of denying Ghana a lead.

Rooney Stamp in the world cup.

Fair do's it was a red card offence in it's own right, but what was the need for Ronaldo to get involved? Then wink at his teams bench like a smug ****? Smacks of someone who made sure his team got the advantage through immoral (in football terms) means.

They BOTH played for us during that time.
