From memory, I don't think it was actually the cost of the event itself, it was the cost of the required road improvements that were the issue.

You will be disappointed to hear people were indeed stood up. A surge towards the barriers could have resulted in disaster. Frail people and kids won't have been able to see. When will they catch up and make these events all seater?
For some reason(probably H&S) they've moved the finish from it's usual position,moving it further down towards South Bay meaning you can't sit/stand on the banking of North Bay to watch the finish.
