Just seen this addition to the BBC page on the story: "In January, a Parliamentary Committee revealed 43 players, 12 clubs and eight agents were the subject of "open inquiries" by HMRC. The Public Accounts Committee highlighted particular concerns about tax evasion in the football industry and the "misuse" of image rights to reduce tax liabilities." I suspect fans of other clubs should keep their powder dry until it comes out who the other 10 clubs are. I don't suspect they will be clubs from the National League!!
No we are big players. It sounds like we have been fiddling the books to declare bigger profits by not paying tax and NI on transfers and other things. From what I am hearing we have also been signing players from this agency to help them fiddle their own books.
That sounds ominous. And though it breaks my heart what they have done to our club, if we have done any of this then we deserve the book throwing at us
I'm not worried. Nothing will come of this bar Charnley getting reamed by an 18 stone fat dicked prisoner. please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image Not everyone will have sympathy
please log in to view this image This, from the Guardian too. I think this makes a lot of sense, especially if guilty. Mike will get rid, we will be worth a great deal more now we are promoted, the Sponsorships have yet to be signed, literally a black canvas with a top draw manager and great potential.
Agree. Get our transfers ready to be done immediately we can to get in before any transfer embargo is put in place.
Can we just throw the book at you then? Because I don't want the book thrown at me nor, if possible NUFC. So if you are happy and agreeable to the book being thrown then we could always make you the scapegoat. We could then also give you a minutes applause on say the 5th minute ( if it is £5M ) until everyone gets sick of it.
The original Sissoko transfer from Toulouse is also under investigation. Guess what? Same football agency used.
Also ominous, but not surprising that two of the three clubs who were visited/raided by HMRC today have released statements much earlier in the day. We are the third club.
I don't want it to happen, but if the club has done wrong then we do deserve it. The club that is - not the fans.
Stop worrying, Fat Mike is on the case right now to issue all HMRC staff with free parkas as a sweetener.
Update: The transfers of Cabella, Thauvin and Ben Arfa - NUFC to and from Marseilles are central to the investigation. Transfer of Payet and Roman Amalfitano - West Ham to and from Marseilles Transfer of Batshuayi to Chelsea from Marseilles. Common denominator? Olympique Marseilles.
Unless they are funnel parkers that mean they can't see very well out of them then it might be too late
I think Lee Charnley would be the person involved in writing any statement, him not being there means there isn't really anyone. Also what do they say? Are we guilty do they have us dead to rights, if so there's no point playing the innocent card, but we don't want to implicate ourselves either. Any statement made would be a generic NUFC can confirm that the HMRC are conducting investigations in relation to allegations made against representatives of the club. NUFC are assisting with these allegations and will make a further comment once these investigations have been concluded. Done!
You said "us". That means you and others. Now you're trying to back out of a reasonable request that you take one for the Club. What sort of fan are you? You pretend to accept any punishment that may be dished out and then quickly retreat when I suggest you as being the scapegoat. Fans like you make me sick. You probably left in the 59th minute on Monday as well claiming you needed to catch your lift home.
Update 2 We have been implicated in a much larger and far more sinister operation. Basically, the Corsican and Marseilles underworld have been involved with senior officials at Olympique Marseilles. As a direct result of our dealings with Marseilles - Ben Arfa, Cabella and Thauvin, we have been implicated and are being investigated by both French authorities and the HMRC. It is the French authorities that alerted HMRC.
