According to Blackmore and Merrington today, the linos weren't upto the mark either. Several times Lallana and Guly were flagged offside, and both commentators were basically saying that Saints were too fast for them to keep up. As I always find it astonishing how linos manage to be consistent in their jobs anyway, I suspect Messrs B & M to be correct.

No idea about today but the ref in the Leeds match was excellent! The lino had a 'mare with the pen but I can't recall the ref getting anything wrong.

cant comment about the sending off until i have seen it - ref was really good against leeds (only thing he got wrong is that he was too lenient with Michael Brown!!) it was lino who gave pen

BBC's comment on Chaplow's red card:
"Late on, substitute Richard Chaplow was sent off for a studs-up and waist-high challenge on Jay McEveley."
Waist high!? From this it seems he was worthy of a red card

Really don't know what to make of chaplows red, watched it over and over on SSN and he clearly kicks the ball away but the his boot does strangely rotate upwards...id say the barnsley fans in the background made the refs mind up however.
Wasn't anywhere near his waist though lmao!! High shin pad.

It was a dangerously high boot. In the gallery you can see that the opponent was caught in 'a delicate place'. Probably not intended, but was high.

I've watched it a few times now and it definitely looks a red card to me. No complaints.

Mmmmmm, I was confised at the game but too far away to see properly. Have watched it back a few times and i'm split as he got the ball first so I still feel yellow for a high boot rather than red for dangerous play....

Yeah definite red, Chappers silly. Here's one for you: Barton grabs Gervinho's shirt while the ball is still in play, obviously this is against the rules...technically it's got to be a penalty to Arsenal.

I have seen it a few times, really don't know what happened, as his foot comes down from kicking the ball it seems there was a magnet on the end of the Barnsley player's genital region and Chappers' studs. It really was awkward. Shame but may give other players a chance to shine.

You cannot realy blame the man with the board over Connos substitution, he was wearing 22 on his shirt, but 23 on his shorts in the second half, I wonder if Dicko noticed his kit had gone astray?
