Firstly, Finbad. Stop. As a NUFC fan, I find some of your posts purile and embarrassing.

As regards the great Shola debate, I am very much not one of his admirers. However, I have to concede that yesterday, he did not do badly, at all, bearing in mind the long ball game employed by Alain de Pardieu for most of the match. Certainly, he seemed to be much more involved than Ba, who was completely anonymous, and who I would have substituted rather than Shola.

From what we have seen, so far, in the close season, and again yesterday, the Shola/Ba partnership simply does not work. Hopefully, a new striker will be signed, soon, who can play with either Shola or Ba, or possibly even Obertan, who looked better, up front, than I thought he would be.

I honestly do not see Shola being our first choice striker. Who can honestly say he will get us 20 goals this season or anything near.

Its not even that for me, though your right he won't, its that he's detrimental to our play. We've signed all these supposedly technical players and then lumber them with Ba and Shola. The number of times that play breaks down due to the ball being lost up there is scary. They can't control it consistently, and the lack of movement is a killer for fluid possession football. Arsenal weren't that good yesterday, well below par, and I think with more mobile natural footballers up top we'd have won. I'm hoping Ba needs time but something tells me he is another donkey. I'm not a Best fan but he is a better option than both, Obertan is a must ahead of them too.
