4 wins should still see us get 4th. Would be some unfortunate set of results for us to not get top 4 with 78 points. Ref gives a pen at 1-1 could be very different story. Just reconfirms how weak our squad is compared to others though. United lose CF and CB mid week along with missing 2 other CBS and still field a team full of internationals. That's the difference between us and the rivals, 2/3 injuries and our squad can't take it. Mane, Lallana, Hendo make a huge difference to our squad.
Apart from Coutinho and Firmino (in patches), the rest were pathetic. And Klopp deserves the blame because our squad is paper thin because of him. We have no options or ideas. Dropping 5 points at home to Bournemouth and palace ffs.
That's the thing - people are getting confident that united and arsenal have tough fixtures but we are just as likely to drop points as well. So frustrating
Annoying result. Play Palace in a week or two and they'd have nothing to play for as Today see them all but safe. Chelsea and Arse found the same, when Palace are worried about relegation they play well, rest of the time average.
To not qualify for the CL despite our record vs top 6 - If this happens then a serious inquest into the way we go about signing players needs to be made.
I can see us getting 6/7 points out of the last 4 games. That means we need utd or city (depending who wins their crunch game) and arsenal to drop a lot of points. The odds just aren't in our favour, I can't see it happening.
Agreed - the defence were pathetic but attack offered very little. We need a lot of players this summer
Well, I cant say I didnt expect that, we are a strange team. There are a lot of areas we need to improve, but for me, today and this season highlights our biggest weak area. We have injuries in midfield, attack, but the one area we haven't.. Full backs. They dont offer much going forward (Milner and Clyne) they cant beat a man, and for the most part have little end product, as a result our width needed to stretch the opposition goes out the window, Coutinho and Firmino then get crowded out and end up dropping deep, and Origi offers no outlet at all when the defense is deep. Everything is going through the middle, in to two banks of four rather than having two players who stretch the play with chalk on their boots. Theyre our two first choice full backs. And they arent much better at the back either. All in all a painfully predictable performance. We never looked like we were going to score once they got the second, there's never any urgency when we go down, there's a lack of imagination and there's too much emphasis on Coutinho to unlock the defense, no one else steps up.
