In the meantime, it has been suggested by a former pro and ITK that Wenger has already signed a new contract with Arsenal, which is the reason why the board hasn't come out and said anything, and that this was done weeks ago. The board has been waiting for an appropriate upbeat moment to announce it. Obviously, if Wenger manages to win the FA Cup, that would probably be sufficient cover for the announcement. The fans will be deliriously joyful and Wenger will slip in, "Oh, and by ze way... I have signed up for another two years at zis club!" When the fans wake up the next day, it won't just be a hang-over they'll be left with, but that same bad smell that's been lingering around the club for far too long. Still, you would, at the very least, have Europey League "Thursday Night" footy to look forward to. Who know, perhaps Wenger will be able to go a lot further in that competition before getting dumped out?
