Hello, crew. The regular readers hit the post somewhat with Silent Steps yesterday as the old girl finished runner-up at Ayr. Still, the consolation was that it put a few more quid in the prize bank for Mr Henderson, the forum’s favourite, in his quest to be crowned Champion.

The one that one is most looking forward to seeing today is Sir Michael’s CRYSTYAL OCEAN in the 10 furlong maiden at Nottingham (6.30). In his sole run of last season the old boy was a close 2nd at Newbury and that run reeked of him being a potential star 3YO. This Sea The Stars colt is related to some stellar performers being a half-brother to both Crystal Capella (multiple Group 2 winner) and Hillstar (similarly a 3 time Group 2 winner) and looks the type to excel now that he has had another winter on his back. You would imagine the plan would be this maiden and then a Derby Trial. For the Epsom heat, itself, Crystal Ocean is currently a 40/1 shot, pilgrims.

Lovely card at Newbury and I’m sure connections will be majorly disappointed if both DABYAH (2.30) and UAE KING (5.20) get beat. I don’t think either will, troops.

Putting my kilt on I spoke about the ‘Scottish National’ on yesterday’s ‘Daily Thread’ and think SOUTHFIELD ROYALE the most likely victor. Very disappointing since Cheltenham ’16 but if he reproduces his run at that fixture this afternoon off 141 he looks thrown, I say thrown, in.

    Good luck all.

On Thursday at Newmarket Fallon said to the ITV cameras 'I can tell you the Queen will have a winner on Saturday'. For those that don't know, he's currently helping out at Haggas's. I was certain it would mean Call to Mind, but now thinking it could just as easily be Musical Terms in the following division.

Think Sir Barney has it right though that Crystal Ocean is the one to be on this evening at Colwick Park. Now what did I say yesterday......

I am going to stick with Chemical Charge 8/1 in today's opener at Newbury. I followed the horse close last year and he raced on rough testing ground and faired creditable, I was confident he would do better lto with better ground and it proved right. He bumps into a few here he's ran against previously with some weight differences in his favour and some not but I feel he can improve again and Beckett will hopefully have brought him on again from his Doncaster run. He's not with Beckett long but the change of yard is doing him well currently.

    Have a good one folks.

    Spring Cup

Chelsea Lad, Banksea, Donncha. Reverse forecast with any 2 from 3.

Chelsea Lad, missed the Lincoln when well fancied and has Moore on today
Banksea was well fancied in all his races as a 3yo so hoping he's trained on nicely
Donncha. I think I have picked every time he runs so can't desert him now. Often comes fast and late.

Holds a couple of these on his Kempton win. Looks to be unexposed

    2.30 Queen Kindly

Has done nothing wrong on form. I like the fav but she looks very short.

    3.05 Zainhom
Like his form behind Best Solution.

    3.40 Sir Rodric

Was on the wrong side at Doncaster and had to make his own running for most of it. Finished best of those on that side.

Just for fun, in the hope I get a better run I'll make that accumulator:
    13.55 Midterm, Dal Harraild
    14.30 Dabyah
15.05 Barney Roy, Dream Castle, War Secretary
    16.45 Dhalam, Musical Terms
    17.55 Signe, Amazing Red
    = 24 bets

Jesse Harrington can do no wrong at the minute and Tully's Chilli can land 4.00 at LK at 9/2.
The Scottish National looks a pretty weak renewal but I do think Trustan Times can run a big race at 16s.Finished third three years ago and looks to running off a nice mark so will hopefully make the top four.

Caught on the line and that was one with a favourable weight difference on Chemical Charge! They almost pulled off a nice touch there.
