Ignore the Song challenge (Song should have been sent off) I just realized that after Gervihno's "dive" the refree didn't BLOW his whistle and the BALL WAS STILL IN PLAY and the Barton grabs Gerv. by the collar in the box (Violent Conduct=Penalty) Lets assume the whole fracas after but then Barton and Gerv. would both have RCs but Arsenal SHOULD have had a penalty (either for the soft clip on Gervihno or the Viollent Conduct by Barton on Gerv in the box) This is NOT a Sour Grapes thread
Well observed! Score enough goals & we can more or less minus bias officiating ( if we can prove that to be the case ) from the equation.
Last year Diaby grabbed Barton and was sent off. This year Barton grabs Gervinho and should have been sent off
If the ref thought Gervinho had dived and the ball was in play he must have been playing the advantage. So the right decision after Barton's action would have been to send them both off for violent conduct but give a free-kick to Newcastle for Gervinho's prior offence. No way could it be a penalty. I didn't spot how the game was actually restarted though
You seem to forget he also pushed Nolan, so two yellow card incidents there equal the red. I think Spurs is right in that the ref played the advantage. Piskie - Barton grabbed Gervinho's shirt.
Diaby grabbed the back of Joey's neck and threw him to the ground AND pushed Nolan. Compared to grabbing a shirt I know which is more likely to be a red.
Barton did not grab Gervinho's throat he grabbed his shirt to pull him to his feet which is not violent conduct.
