There's supposed to be a clause that's triggered if we extend his contract at it's end in three years. We get an additional year, but there's a release for £23.5m or something. I'm sure lots of clubs are looking at him, but it would take silly money right now, in my opinion.
Yeah, we had it all last summer. Shame when the media want to build clubs like ours (not the elite) up then smash up to bits but that's life. I'm not suggesting he's a bad player, only that I can see the clubs with the money investing it more wisely considering Keane will likely cost 25m (saying that, it would be typical Man United). I think he gets the praise more for being English than his ability. The media also make him out to be a lot younger than he is. He's the best out of that trio of English centre halves playing for lower clubs (Maguire and Gibson being the others).
↑ No idea if there's any truth to it, tbh. There's always speculation in the red tops. He's under contract until 2020. And so called 'big clubs' are supposedly after virtually all our players, Yeah, we had it all last summer. Shame when the media want to build clubs like ours (not the elite) up then smash up to bits but that's life. The very large majority of the so called 'elite' are busy looking up at us...
I wouldn't say that a single English club could call themselves an elite club these days. Not with a straight face, that's for sure. This Champions League campaign has ensured that.
£25m doesn't seem to get you a lot now though, unfortunately. That's about a quarter of a Pogba, give or take his agent's fees. It's hard to tell exactly how well he'd do at any of the top six clubs, as he'd have to play a very different game. I'll be surprised if someone doesn't buy him though, as there aren't that many good centre-halves out there. Clubs are also having to up the number of homegrown players, so he's got that going for him. Macguire and Gibson will probably get snapped up, too.
Pogba cost so much because he's probably the most marketable footballer in the world and I think people confuse his transfer fee with his ability. Griezmann will also cost a ****ing hell of a lot because he's marketable (he has absolutely obscene talent too). I can see him with the number 7 shirt at United. Rumour is that we're after Gibson. We'll probably go for Maguire too as we don't currently have a defender that is below 30. Morgan and Huth are 33 and 32 so it would be a good time to get their understudies in to learn/rotate with for one season.
Big summer for Leicester in the transfer market. Really could decide the club's future for a long time.
Gibson and Maguire (assuming Keane is out of reach), cheeky bid for Siggurdson if Swans go down and see if Adrien Silva is still keen. Bish bash sorted
Absolutely. It was bigger last summer and we ****ed it up. We didn't trust the players we had and went for expensive overseas talent that hasn't really worked (Musa is god awful - Slimani has a great goal return but he's not Jamie Vardy. Feels like playing with 10 men). I think we need; A central attacking midfielder - Would love us to go for Gylfi Sigurdsson. I think he'd fit in really well. A centre half or two - Would take Gibson and Maguire. A more attacking right back - Trippier would be superb for us. I was gutted we didn't go for him when you lot got him. That's providing we keep our best players. Lose Schmeichel - Jordan Pickford. Lose Mahrez - Probably irreplaceable. Lose Drinkwater - Would like to see us go in for Mario Lemina at Juve. We were interested last summer. Lose Vardy - We're utterly ****ed. Our entire ethos and club revolves around him. We'd need someone rapid that will take chances, I can't name one good enough that would come here.
I can see Sigurdsson ending up at Everton, especially if Barkley leaves. Very good player with a superb attitude. Wouldn't mind having him back, but he really needs to be starting regularly and we can't offer him that. Pickford's an interesting one. Good, young keeper who's happy to distribute the ball quickly. He's very much a Mackem though, by all accounts. Could be a tricky decision for him in this window.
Apparently United have a huge sell on % due if and when Burnley sell him, I'd imagine if Mourinho wants him then it's a straightforward deal. He'd be more reliable than Jones and Smalling fitness-wise.
Hope we put a bid in for him..he might prefer CL footy. Wont be able to compete with the wages on offer though.
