The Victorian Giants SUFC are now Millennium Midgets. They've had 6 years among the small fry of League One and have no summer usage of the Bramall Lane Pigsty. They need the ackers. Our sensitive pitch gets used every week of the year and hosts games in the world's most prestigious league. Times have changed. This is not and end of season kickabout at BP where there will be no more games for 3 months, this is top class football with world famous names plying their trade. Unfortunately, this is football 2017 - not necessarily of the Allams' doing.
Nobodies defending them. The ercfa knew the price last year and got help to pay the fee. They didn't get it this year, so instead of stumping up the money, they've got plenty, lowthorpe got Ashbee to do a piece in the paper. It is what it is. I'd like to see all the reserves games at the kcom. It doesn't happen, maybe I should go to the papers. It must cost too much for the club to do it, so... they play at ferriby.
The current final is scheduled for May 18th, I'm sure they'd play it a few days later if asked, making it after our final game.
Now they've got the money, they've come up with another excuse for not holding it, it's a month away ffs, they could easily sort it.
As Sheff Utd are providing the stadium at no cost so the Ackerman don't come into it. In any case with larger crowds but lower costs than us they don't need them. I don't think one more game will affect the world class players plying top class football in the Super League.
Sorry, I forgot you were our resident FC fan. Though as I'm sure you're aware, they've only got one home game in May anyway.
You need to ask the SMC. Standards and requirements for PL pitches and stadia are constantly being tweaked. Do Man Utd have local amateur games on their midden? And Man City? Do they allow it? Arsenal? The KCOM stadium started out as a Community Stadium when it was built and were paupers, but only the densest local goon seriously believes that any old local team can rock up there and play a game. It fulfills its community brief by all those little learning/ study units built into it at ground level.
I don't think it is at all They are right to call them out on it (although they should have done it a year ago too)
The pigs charge less for their inferior level football, and have various concessions, that;s why they have larger crowds. Plus as is well documented, they have a much larger population to draw from. See my other response about increasingly stringent standards/quality and pitches/stadia. Thanks.
I'm looking in on this with no understanding of the history, except what I read on here. I find it incredibly sad to follow this community football tragedy. If there is a valid reason, for the club to act as it is, then why not declare it, explain it and be approachable to the community whose stadium they enjoy the use of? This seems to be just another case of the Allam's callous and arrogant abuse of the basic principles of community football. A huge amount of pressure must be turned on the HCC to examine the fitness of the SMC to continue in its role.
They have concessions, though you don't get that much off for being over 60 or disabled, but a Category A match ticket, which is for opposition far inferior to any of ours, are £25, £27 and 29, not that cheap in comparison. The stringent standards/quality and pitches/stadium is BS. If the ERCFA had said they were willing to pay the money the game would have gone ahead. So the only thing preventing it was the Allams, standards wouldn't have come into it.
