Except Griezmann is actually a playmaker/forward and contributes to the overall play to set up plenty of goals as well as score. It's why he drops off pretty deep, is given a free role and is starting behind Gameiro who is the out and out striker (or torres when he comes in). He is also a great dribbler of the ball and can dribble in tight spaces rather than just having big open field to dribble into past defenders with pace.

Vardy plays on the last defender and mainly tries to get in behind and finish off the chances, he will go past the last defender if theres space in behind but he rarely beats players through skill (not many people can).

That's just my impression of how they differ

<laugh> you've never beaten me in argument ... so that blows that out of the water ..

Now pay attention .... my board name is Fosse - you had been addressing me as such since you became "New HIAG" but as soon you got rattled you recommenced using one of your nicknames - ironically the one that you claimed reflected my naivete for commenting that Leicester City could maintain the early season form throughout last season's campaign - remind me - how did that end? ..ah yes.... that title thingy <laugh>

Priceslless, yet true to character, that you now start bleating like a big girl because your failure to live up to your reformed HIAG assertion has resulted in you resurrecting your Quentin persona and being addressed by it accordingly.

FFS Quentin get a grip <doh>

El Cholo said it was far from comfortable for Los Colchoneros

  5. Okay, let's assume that Vardy was 7 years younger. Who would you choose?

    Vardy, undoubtedly.

  7. To be fair, I didn't catch much of that, but what I did glean from it is that you are confused as to why new HIAG has reverted to calling you by your old tried and trusted name "Bambi."

Be assured, that I have not taken that decision lightly. I have weighed up every option, but your recent postings have demonstrated that, despite your best efforts to change, you remain as naïve as ever you were, on footballing matters.

    Sorry, Bambi.

Suffice it to say, however, that I am pissing myself laughing right now!

No worries Quentin ... there were some big words in there (for your limited intellect) and it is common knowledge that you don't understand the use of commas. <ok>

  10. He was being polite.

You don't waltz up to a cripple and say, "Look at me! I can dance!"

I suspect most of us are sympathetic to your incontinence - one of the reasons you don't ever get to live football? .<laugh>

Quentin, Quentin, Quentin ... if you knew anything about football (but you don't) you'd know that Diego Simeone is hardly the type to feel obliged to be polite ...

PS Rumour has it that the cripple replied "No you can't ... and you appear to have pissed yoursellf" <laugh>

Quentin had mixed emotions last night ... us going out of the UCL will have soothed his urine chafed nether regions to some degree ... but the fact that we gave Atletico one hell of a game, and rightly received the plaudits for doing so, has left another one of his predictions ("dry humpimg") dangling from his arse like a recurring haemorrhoid ... poor wee lad <laugh>

I do feel sorry for young Quentin.

The best team Spurs will ever have is still outshadowed by their more illustrious neighbours and that little team in the East Midlands that did to Atletico what his side couldn't do against fecking Gent.

I do think the assumption from people who probably don't watch him much that Vardy is a one trick pony is wrong. He has shown a range of goals. Most recently he scored instinctive finishes when picked out in the box vs Sunderland and Stoke and scored similar goals last season (volleys inside the box). The worldie v Liverpool last season and even goals like last night show he can bag when poaching inside the box not having to run onto it.

As for if he was 7 years younger, I'd take Vardy over Kane all day long and ill at least justify that.
For me, if both were young, Vardy would be able to learn the traits that Kane has whereas those that Vardy has that Kane doesn't aren't ones that can be taught such as raw pace and aggression. Both are quality finishers but the only season to really judge both in in form sides is last when they were one goal apart. Kane should score more with the creative players available to Spurs. I don't think we'll now see Vardy for a side like Arsenal or Spurs but as I said at the start, some of his goals particularly recently say to me he can be successful in possession based attacks

You are quite correct John ... his recent finishes have been far more about being the quickest to react in the penalty area rather than the "urban myth" that he only scores from long balls over the top ... he also has a good leap for a little guy ... if he got the service that players like Ozil and Sanchez could supply, I believe he would thrive on the amount of chances ... just my opinion but the stats back it up ... been a prolific goalscorer at every level and you can include playing for England in that.

Yeah that volley against Stoke and the one touch and bang top corner v Sunderland were great goals. Let's not forget was it the heel flick for England? I loved the header he scored away at Southampton last season. Like you say he can score with left, right, head. Inside or outside. He's calm when he goes through and has time or at reacting first time. For me the benefit Kane has over him is age and well, what's this whole discussion about?

I know he scored a worldy from outside against pool, but predominantly all of vardys goals are from close range (whether he runs on, heads it or it drops to him) so i'm not sure you can say he can score from out the box per se just based on that wonder strike. Even Phil Jagielka has scored a wonder goal from outside the box

We're correcting the assumption that he only scores from balls lumped over the top to him.
When I say outside the box there's been others than he's run onto but technically taken the shot from outside the box.
To flip it, the conversation is between Kane and Vardy and I know you're neutral in it so what other kind of goals are you looking for from your striker? Ones like Kane against Arsenal and Liverpool last season from the corner of the box spring to mind. I can't think of many other kind of goal you'd want or expect from a centre forward that Vardy hasn't proven he can score
