I've never been bitten by a mosquito - FACT - despite trawling prominent areas such as Thai islands. Seems there's something about me that leaves a bad taste in their mouths...

Rugby football, Australian Rules and Gaelic Football don't feature much use of the foot.

They could have altered it to Belgian Fries as that was where they originated. Apparently they referred to them as French Fries as itv was thought the Americans wouldn't have been aware of where or what Belgium was.

Oh I hope that's true and not apocryphal. Similar was said when the film The Madness of King George V was aired to US test audiences and viewers wanted to know what happened in the previous four films? Hence the title was changed minus the numeral.

    Again, I hope that's true...

We are changing tactics regarding holidays. From now on we are only doing last minute deals. We always seem to get the best deal from TUI companies and we will see where we end up.
We decided that in reality, we only want some cheap sun and as we have had problems with our hotels either not being finished or having work done we may as well wait.

Professor Paul Ilegems, curator of the Fries Museum in Belgium (seriously, there is one), says they almost certainly actually originated in Spain, who had potatoes before anyone else in Europe and fry everything.

    Sorry...

The Madness of King George III - Title change
In adapting the play to film, the title was changed from The Madness of George III to The Madness of King George. One commonly stated explanation for the title change, that American audiences would think the film was a sequel because of the use of Roman numerals in the title, is an urban legend.

OK good luck with that but they are everywhere not just Kuta.

I've only been to Java and Sulawesi myself, I avoided Bali and Syd and his friends.

OLM googles to try and do a bit of point scoring. They probably did fry potatoes but the Belgians and French were the ones who hold claim to have initiated chips, or Fries, as they are now known. Belgium has always laid claim to being the originators though the French dispute that.

Best chips are in Belgium though, ideally served mith mussels and washed down with any number of excellent Belgian beers.

If anyone wants to visit an Indonesian Island that looks like Bali but doesn't have the drunken Aussies, try Lombok, which is the next Island along from Bali.

I meant chips or fries as they are known, as they are referred to in both ways. They call them fries in Belgium but they are chip sized pieces of potato.

Though the discussion was about what the Yanks call them and why.

Americans are unaware that there has been more than one King George.

When they use the term "King George" they mean George III.

If you want to confuse an American, when they mention King George, ask them which one.
