The Leicester City "spiral" watch!

Discussion in 'The Premier League' started by Hoddle is a god, Jan 17, 2016.

  1. <applause>
Look at the years that we've had to struggle in mid table in order to get consistent enough to make the Europa League!

That was a massive step for Spurs, on our way to where we are now.

And then, to have a bunch of gobshite muppets come along and trounce all over that, and sneer about us playing "Europey" footy... !

In a few years from now, Foxes will be willing to give their right arms to play in the Europa League.

I quite like the Europa League as well, it gets a bum rap as the Champions League budget brand cousin, and the prize money pales in comparison to CL money, but its still a decent competition, with some decent teams in it.
Well worth a go, especially now the winners get a CL place to boot.

Who's sneering at the Europa League?
I've said to Spurlock previously Spurs should take it more seriously as you'd be in with a serious chance of winning. I'd love us to get into the EL whether it be through league finishes or I suppose more likely domestic cups. Europe's Europe.
Sevilla are the other blueprint to follow, 3 consecutive wins in the EL, into the CL and getting higher in La Liga

Exactly Hiag...we have seen the baby steps our club has taken......but in the grand scheme of things thats how it is for a club than runs on a solid financial structure....You sometimes got to travel to Azarbaijan or wherever...but no European football unless its CL football comes across arrogant to me....We have probably been in the Europa longer than most teams in the top flight....but its no coincidence that now it is us who realistically look like the team in the Prem to go onto the next level and stay competitive in it for a long time yet....i.e top 4 challengers...the important thing is not to stand still, like our neighbours and think...who cares at least we qualify for CL. 6 years ago when we got to CL...you knew we were not content on it being a one off and its clear for Spurs fans to see the progress being made....not to forget being the only team to be putting up any kind of resistence to the team at the top for the second season running. You have to always have goals or you stand still and usually end up going backwards. The Europa is a very important stepping stone for many clubs.

I always want us to take cups seriously. I can't understand the likes of Bournemouth make 11 changes!

I think we all know winning the league won't happen again and finishing top 4 is very unlikely given the competition so it's the next stage really

Hang on a minute, Vardy a great replacement for Griezmann? Now I've heard everything! <yikes>

Can you imagine the fans reactions?

"Right, I know we've had a great record of strikers in recent years including Torres, Falcao, Costa and Griezmann. So I'm sure you'll be delighted to hear our main striker next season will be Jamie ****ing Vardy!" <laugh>

<laugh> ... talking out your arse as usual ... Vardy can get you a goal from anywhere ... he also sets them up ..Harry Kane is more "limited" ijn that he invariably needs the chances created wheras Vardy can create his own if nothing is on ... nonetheless Harry is an exceptional striker ...would just remind you once again that Vardy would have woin the golden boot last season if he had taken all our penalties (as Harry did)... but it was only fair that we let you boys pick up one award, I guess <whistle>

Vardy now has 14 this season and all from open play plus in a team that struggled for the first half of the season other than in Europe.... he has now added Sevilla and Atletico to the clubs he has scored against (where was Harold during your European campaigns btw?) ... at International level Vardy has notched against Spain, Germany and the Netherlands at the first time of asking plus has a major tournament goal ...

He has suffered from some footballing snobbery for sure and also irritates rival fans ... most noticeably those with little footballing knowledge or appreciation of the game like yourself. But he rightly won the FWA Player of the Year and the Barclays Premier League player of 2016 on merit.

His pace and agression sets him apart from other strikers in the Prem and makes him a nightmare to have to defend against - as to limitations? ... look nio further than the nearest mirror ... <laugh>

We could say its because Vardy runs from deep chasing a long pass and that means he needs to do the hard bit himself up front, as for Kane needing chances created for him....just look at his last goal for us...and we can go back to that superb goal against Arsenal which he made himself and umpteen other examples.....lol

<laugh> come on fossy. Even you can't believe this. Vardy is the definition of a one trick pony (although his volleys the other week was good)

Until reading Fosse's post though it hasn't occurred to me the pedigree of the sort of teams he has scored again. He has a great goal record although I would take into account that like most other strikers he does need support as notice during our bad period as a club, he was also struggling.
Fosse is right when he says he gets written off and under rated due to snobbery. People seem to prefer stuck up academy brats over someone who came into the game at a later age after working like any of us for years. To me it makes him more relatable. I love his aggressive style of play and how he leaves it all on the pitch. Clearly that's different to certain moments when he's been accused of gamesmanship which disappoint me

  20. When Bambi looks at our footy talk, his eyes grow wide in wonder as he tries to work out what we're saying!

His retorts are nothing more than the playful frisky frolics of a little doe trying to emulate the Stags he's seen rutting in the meadow.
