weekend’s 2-2 draw with West Ham United has done very little to boost the Black Cats chances of survival, and despite the Sunderland board claiming that Moyes will be allowed to continue as manager if the club is relegated, the fans are getting increasingly restless.

Here’s how Sunderland fans responded on social media to the latest result:

@guardian_sport @davidclark28986 Too negative. Tactically inept. Lost players and fans. No going back.

    — John Ridley (@Ridderz86) April 16, 2017

@guardian_sport Was delighted with the appointment originally but he’s as bad as Howard Wilkinson. Even Mick Mcarthy’s teams showed more fight

    — Jon Place (@JonathanPlace1) April 16, 2017

@guardian_sport Never liked or wanted him n I hate the way he sits with his arms folded, clueless, n tactically inept , just go with bracewell n mustoe

    — Jan Lynn (@janicelynn73) April 17, 2017

@guardian_sport @davidclark28986 Can’t motivate players or fans, highest attendance in the league ,rock bottom, criticises fans
And the media feel for him ?#Londonmedia

@Shaun_XL5 @guardian_sport Was ok with Moyes appointment but he has been a disaster and divisive. Need positivity and harmony to bounce back. Busted flush.

It's a shame, but there's no doubting that he's been way too negative in his team set-up/selection decisions. Defoe, Borini, Khazri, Anichebe, Januszaj, Dunc (sadly missed) and we couldn't score in a brothel... :(

If Moyes dropped dead tomorrow he'd still be in charge next season so there's no point getting upset about it anymore.

Sad but true - he'll be here next season. Although I don't really blame him for not winning on Saturday which is why I found it strange that they turned on him in that game - it was arguably our best performance since Palace - 2 goals, a penalty we should've had - the free-kick which led to their second goal was never a foul in a million years - in the context of the game it was less than 10% of what their defender did to Billy Jones and we didn't even get a free kick for that - so we played against Marriner as well as West Ham

That said - I don't disagree with them - I don;t think he's the right man but I also don't think sacking him now would make any difference - he might succeed in the championship (who knows - only time will tell)

If he starts next season, he really needs to consider how he publicly states expectations. Will it be '' we're getting straight back up'' or '' rebuilding will be difficult, so mid table is all we'll manage''

If theres anything thats gonna prevent me getting an erection in a brothel its David Moyes' ugly mug inches away from my flaccid nob, his distorted face shouting 'go on my son, get hard ya bastard, you know you can do it, you're better than all these other cocks!' What a horrible thought that I'm now struggling getting out of my head!

Reluctantly I agree but I really think our improved performance was due to prescence of Catts on the pitch - he was rallying and organising the players on the field even though he could'nt play his normal game after the dodgy 2nd minute yellow card. I think it was a mature responsible game from him (at long last not a reckless liability) - a captains performance. But Dour Dave - why play Antchibe out on the wing and Defoe against towering CH's ?????? Clueless unless Antchibe had a injury problem and he didn't want him getting too battered - (I'm trying to defend Moyes here )
