No Durbar ....this is current news. I will change it to off topic though I do suggest that we create a new GE 2017 thread....as it is sufficiently encompassing to be a stand alone thread. So I will modify that too
If you look at the top of the Politics thread,...it has the Brexit "vote" on it. How confusing is that....it is full of political comment about many, many other things since that vote. I am trying to tidy up the board and put things in their place....if it doesn't work...it doesn't work. No big issue Durbar, not sure why you are getting so worked up about it. Please post your bye bye Corbyn posts here
If you're trying to clean up the board then this should be in the politics thread surely, Anyway you're in charge, do what you want.
I agree with that Stroller...the other real winners will be the SNP...who will use their success (which I really expect to happen) to INSIST at a new referendum
I think it is very sensible of her to have called this election. We know there is more than a shred of truth in the reasons she gave: Labour, Lib Dems, unelected Peers and The Scots trying to sabotage what she has been mandated to do by The Referendum. Those who voted out, irrespective of their previous political pedigree, should consider voting for May otherwise they run the risk of being rather hypocritical in my view. The North East voting Tory. Fascinating thought!!
I don't know what everybody is so fussed about the 8th June. Kim Jong-un and Trump will have flattened the world before then.
In what way's that old chum? Surely the only thing to be decided is who will be the official opposition - labour or lib dems?
Agreed but then when did a mandate ever save you if it all went pear shaped? Didn't save Blair when his belief that there were WMDs proved to be wrong. Didn't save Brown when the bankers ****ed up the global economy. Didn't save Maggie when she lost the plot over the Poll tax.
Clever move by the Conservatives. If they win by a landslide in England & Wales, then that's Labour totally muzzled for the next 5 years. Mrs May will also be able to strengthen her position within her party and, perhaps, deliver on some of the things she's said she believes in but has yet to do anything about. I'd like to see that. Maybe others in her party have been holding her back. Or, maybe muzzling Labour will encourage the Loony Right to do more things that will make life worse for ordinary people. We'll see. Can anyone see the Conservatives doing much better in N. Ireland or Scotland than they did last time? This might turn out to be the last UK General Election.
Could there possibly be a worse set of choices? The grey robotic May and her band of lunatics banging the drum for a right wing dictatorship, Comrade Jezza and a bloke no one has heard of.
There are still a number of Tory MPs (maybe as many as 20) under investigation for election fraud at the last GE. Surely they can't be allowed to stand again with CPS deliberations ongoing?
