I would've thought losing at home to a very average Leverkusen side then getting knocked out of the europa over 2 legs by Gent could be construed as a tad embarrassing

They're a very good side with some world class players. They'll give just about anybody a tough game.

Quality team this season, top of their league and given some big teams a lot of trouble.

They mashed Dortmund up and were unlucky to come away only winning 3-2 imo.

We've been awful at Wembley so far this season, for some reason and Pochettino's still new to European football.
His selections haven't been right and his tactics were off for a lot of those games.

I'd be more embarrassed by having brought in a manager who was supposed to be the best in the world and doing nothing, honestly.
John Stones cost more than all of our defenders put together and you've got Bravo in goal.

There speaks the voice of experience.
What was it, 3 consecutive PL seasons before Citeh managed to get out of the
    CL group stages ??

    Worse than that, Citeh :

    1. Did not make the CL KO stages when they were first DEFENDING PL champions.

    2. Took FIVE consecutive CL seasons to go further than Spurs and Leicester did in
    their first.

    <ouch>

    Easy there, Sky.
It takes a lot of resource (money from the Sheikh + manager chop/change etc) to get to the
point where Citeh supporters can attempt to WUM Spurs about the CL.

Much like Chelsea before them, they're finding that buying the European Cup isn't as easy as buying the premier league. Part of this is due to some teams in Spain effectively receiving tax breaks and for a long time, individual tv rights.

  20. Nothing is ever guaranteed in football, but this is an exceedingly arrogant comment.

The idea, I suppose, is that despite the fact that Spurs, for two full seasons under Poch, have challenged for the title and have been consistently one of the most exciting teams in the league to watch, and on the cusp of taking delivery of a bespoke new state-of-the-art stadium, with a clear vision and exciting future, is still viewed by the footballing World (or, certainly, the plastic fans of formerly more successful clubs) as nothing more than a "selling" club with no ambition.

    It's all bollocks, mate.

The message that Poch is sending out to brilliant young players is this: if you want to express yourself and be part of something exciting and new, come to Spurs.

United, 'Pool and Arsenal are spent forces in our division. Why would any decent young player want to go to any of those clubs over Spurs? Money? If so, then I wouldn't want them at Spurs, anyway, since that kind of player doesn't have the kind of ambition that Poch demands before you are good enough to pull on the Spurs shirt.
