Some observations after today and recent weeks - I have on occasions, felt Dier has not really kicked on this season, but he is now playing his best football For months. I have never cared much for Vertonghen, either as a player or a bloke, but in my view, he is now performing better than at any other time since he has been with us. The form of these two players, are impacting enormously on our fine run. Along with the consistency from others, we are a level above where we were 3 months ago and probably two levels above where we were a year ago. Also, in the past, I have always felt we have needed to be at our very best to stand a chance of beating Chelsea. Now, I believe to beat us next week, it is Chelsea who will need to be at their very best to stand a chance of beating us, such is our current standard of form. COYS
Eddie Howes interview is very revealing. Suggests that he may not be very happy with Wheelchair, but otherwise very gracious in defeat. Stupid feckin' journo asks him if he has any complaints about the corner being given when it has been established since halftime that it was correct!!
Spot on, OS!! Some of our football today was beautiful - but the coordinated pressing and sheer commitment was a delight to behold. Something which Howe refers to in his conference.
He left the ground on crutches with a protective boot on his foot. I don't wish an injury on any footballer, but I could be tempted to make an exception with this prat !!
We shall see what occurs tomorrow. But if Chelsky do not win, then the FA Cup SF also becomes an opportunity for Spurs to sow PL mental damage/doubt in them as well as get to a cup final.
IMHO it epitomises the waste of his career, when that injury has been picked up from one of many defensive moments in his own box forced on him by Spurs (that one trying to prevent Kane getting a shot on goal) .
Actually reckless and out of control. Could have easily injured HK - should have been a booking imho!!
I think all Spurs' players are performing well, both individually and collectively. It's not just the level of skill shown, it's the commitment and energy levels. The key in football is to get players performing together as a team - a collective effort, spirit and understanding. Many observers look at a club and say they are favourites because they have player x,y and z. But a team comfortable playing together from 1 to 11 will usually beat a team with a few stand out individuals. Spurs are presently playing together as an outstanding team. The only drawback for you Spurs fans is that it will probably only be good enough for 2nd place. Had these heights been reached earlier, it might have been different.
Probably might have been different if we hadn't lost HK for so many games. Team performed well enough but to lose your main talisman striker for such a chunk of the season will have an impact. By contrast, Costa has played 6 games more yet scored 3 fewer goals.....
Anyone remember when winning 4-0 was a rarity to be cherished? I checked and we've won 4-0 on 4 occassions so far in the league since the turn of the year. We're in April. We've only played 14 league games this year. 7 wins on the spin. 8 if you include Millwall. 11 on the bounce at home. It really is a pleasure to watch this team. Good to see Vic back too We need him so we can play 3 at the back at Wembley, otherwise we leave ourselves too open at the back on the bigger pitches. Dembele MOTM today for me
It was him but it was for Eintracht Frankfurt in the CWC in '82. It's not a name that's easily forgotten, even at my age.
Starting to run out of superlatives. We are such a joy to watch, without a shadow of the doubt the best Spurs team and manager I've seen in my 27 years on the planet. All that's needed now is a trophy, which would be so deserving of the work Pochettino, his staff and the players have put in over these last 3 years. Whole team was excellent again yesterday, Dembele being MOTM with Sonny following closely behind. And what's even better is... JANSSEN SCORED FROM OPEN PLAY IN THE LEAGUE!
