I wouldn't say it was prejudicial, as I'm not using it as a judgement. An assumption, perhaps.

I have. You jumped on the same bandwagon, so I'll address them to you too. If they don't apply, it's no problem. I mean, why be offended?

But you are using it as a judgement. It's the core of your argument.

I'm not judging someone by assuming they're black. It's the absolute opposite of my argument! Now if I were judging someone because they're black (such as comparing them to a gorilla) that would be a different matter altogether.

You're prejudging their colour based on stereotype, which is the core of your argument.

I didn't even know you were gay. I apologise sincerely for insulting you with homophobic comments.

You don't 'prejudge' someone's colour. It's hardly a value judgement. I can make an assumption about their colour, based on the fact that Nigeria's population is overwhelmingly black (that's a researchable fact by the way, not an assumption).

To prejudge someone means to make assumptions about the kind of person they might be. To assume someone has a certain skin colour, based on statistical probability, is a completely different thing. I am making no judgements whatsoever about the type of person they are.

DMD once lead the old man from Northampton on a merry dance regarding making assumptions about people based on where they are from.

Stlii have your negative feelings regarding black music, Polly? A bit judgmental, surely?<laugh> Whereas as I don't like the hideously white folk music.

I disagree, you've formed an unreasonable opinion without knowledge, but it's academic, as it still means your argument is flawed.

Unless Kelvin MacKenzie discussed the article with you before he published it you have no idea whether he intended his quote to be racist.

Did he discuss it with you so you can inform us whether he intended it to be racist or not?

I think he knew full well that some would read it that way, but that's not the same thing.

    It's click bait.

Where have I been offended? I'm just curious why you have decided to read what you want into the article.

I, just like you, can only read the words he wrote, which did not imply racism. If he intended his words to be racist then he did a very poor job of it as a professional journalist.

So I agree with you, without either of us having had the benefit of that discussion you mention, neither of us should make the critical judgement of racism against him. Or, maybe, you are in favour of judging without evidence?

Exactly. Provocative nonsense to get a rise and it succeeded, as a professional journalist knew it would.
