So...we're less than a day into the season and already we're pitted against each other.

Already we've seen a stunning volley from Seb, controversy over red cards at St James' but at the end of the day both teams have came out a got a very good point each.

We have a weak spot in our team down the left. No left winger and no left back. Richardson will most likely play but he doesn't exactly inspire confidence in many a Mackem.

As for Newcastle you seem to have a decent squad but lack that bit of flair that Ben Arfa would bring and a striker (although you have two Ameobi' for next week which is handy for you if the older one's reputation is anything to go by....)

Now for the banter/warfare to begin. Best game of the season by a mile. Can't wait. Would love to get a win but I'm expecting a very tough game. I'm sure both sets of supporters think their team can take home all the points!!

Looking forward to the game, we should have this Pieters from PSV by then so we will probably be stronger. I agree though both teams did well for the point today :)

We will hopefully have a left back and a striker but I can see this one being tight

Close one for me. 1-1/2-2. Could see losing it though.

Cracking goal by Larsson today, by the way.

Cannot wait for next week. Thinking a 2-2 is on the cards, hopefully it will be a good game though. With no fan trouble!

Fantastic goal by Larsson today. Here's hoping there is no repeat of it!

Both teams looked poor going forward today, so I'll go for a 3-3 draw.

To be fair to Newcastle's strikers, Arsenal defended very well. Cabaye and Best both had decent chances and Ba looked a wee bit bullied

I was hoping both teams would go into it on the back of wins, but a point will do.

No doubt Newcastle will use their financial might in the transfer window this week... and re-sign Shefki Kuqi on a free. <ok>

Didn't see any of the game but from what I hear Brown was outstanding! O'Shea got a hamstring after 20 mins in pre-season. He was almost in contention for today. Doubt he'll start next week but possibly on the bench. I really can't call this match, my heart tells me we can nick a win, my head tells me it ain't that simple. Whatever the result though you can guarantee an electric atmosphere as per usual.

Not looking forward to the derby tbh, we need a striker and a LB. Hopefully Marveaux will be back and Vuckic will be given a chance.

Gyan didn't look to great today but I guess apart from your goal you were pretty much limited to long range efforts. Saying that apart from the Cabaye effort we didn't come close... Will depend a lot on transfers this week and the inevitable Newcastle drama which will unfold. Hopefully I can get off work to watch the game!

Both teams can be rightly delighted with a point today, in all hinesty lads, i bet any one of us would have been ok with a narrow defeat, so long as there was a decent performance in there.

Lets have a few days to look forward to next week, and start ripping the **** on Tues or Weds.

Great day for the North East's 2 great clubs, an away point at Anfiled for Sunderland, & a great win at Leeds for Boro.

    <whistle>

He's a good player (winger, not in the middle where he prefers to play) and will improve but at the minute, the £20million bought us 10 players. Larsson and Colback didn't cost a penny between them and yet they both look very decent.

    Henderson was gash.

He always bottles big games, this was a big game for him.

    £20 million.

    Brilliant.

    Piss poor mate.

He won a few headers, but mainly when the ball had gone deep and the defence had held it's shape in the centre.

He just doesn't look as up for it to me in a Liverpool shirt, although there's plenty of time for him to kick on.

I feared him today, but he was piss weak.
