Defo Pep with the money spent and squad they should have walked it.

I would still give it to Pep though.
Most "experts" had all but handed the PL title to City before a ball was kicked.
Everyone had them as favourites by a country mile, saying they would walk it, with maybe only Jose's United to challenge them......
Myself included (except I thought United would win the two horse race).

but City are very mediocre right now, their defence looks awful, and they are only barely scraping top 4 at the moment.

Agreed! I wonder how they're board feel about this given the vast investment and anticipation?

I too thought Man City was going to win from the start , I certainly wouldn't have picked Chelsea in the top 3 either . Oh well , not the first time wrong and I suspect it won't be the last .

City's defence isn't actually bad, but it's wildly inappropriate for Guardiola's playing style and he seems to only have one.
His fullbacks need to be able to run all day, essentially playing as wingers or cutting inside if he has actual wingers playing.
Who has he got? Sagna (34), Zabaleta (32), Kolarov (31) and Clichy (31).

They're a good group of fullbacks, but they don't have the legs for his system and it shows.
He's resorted to sticking Jesus Navas there in recent games.

Kompany's injury issues, Stones' inexperience, Toure's lethargy and Bravo's utter ****eness have also cost them.
They've got quite a lot of aging players now, so it'll be interesting to see where he puts his focus in the summer.
Their squad's still impressive, but he's got a lot of work to do.

He basically needs a whole new back four, with the exception of Stones, who, whilst he has been pretty ****e, is young and cost them £50m so worth persevering with for another couple seasons.
They also need a new Goalkeeper, Bravo is **** to the point of hilariousness. Watching Pep trying to justify his decision to replace Joe Hart with this clown has been one of the seasons highlights <laugh>
And he needs a new defensive midfielder.
I make that 5 new players at least, before they are at the level.

So obviously they're being linked with... Alexis Sanchez! <laugh>

I suspect that Guardiola will make the same mistake that a lot of managers do and buy without considering the Premier League.
It's his first season, so I may be misjudging him, but I'm not sure that he's got his head round it, yet.
Seems odd to me that he's not being linked with Jordi Alba though, given the flurry of speculation about his future.

  8. ...and, yet, they are still a lot better than Arsenal.

DIEGO COSTA has hinted he will remain at Chelsea beyond this summer despite speculation linking him with a move away.

Costa was the subject of interest from China in January and had a bust-up with manager Antonio Conte after a bid was rejected.

And there is expected to be more interest once this season is over.

But Costa has said he hopes to play with Eden Hazard ‘for a very long time’ suggesting he will stay put at Chelsea.

  10. Spurs 2 v 0 Bournemouth
    (Dembele (17), Son (19))

Only half way through the first half.

This train-wreck thread still continues to provide giggles a-plenty!

  11. Spurs 4 v 0 Bournemouth
    (Full-Time)

Spurs close the gap to 4 points on Chelsea.

This mother-of-all threads just keeps on giving and giving!

Shearer, Henry, Van Nistelrooy are the only players to score 20 league goals in 3 consecutive seasons
