No doubt about the stupid bookings. Mostly his fault. Part of the reason for the hype is that GM has given him the 'glory role' (if you'll pardon the pun). One CB hangs back to cover, and one is designated as the ball-attacker. If the roles were reversed, then I think you are right - he wouldn't get the headlines or kudos that he currently does. He would just be a better than ordinary CB that needs his arse kicked for getting so many stupid yellows (and most are for trying to retrieve balls he's lost by taking unnecessary risks in danger areas). Remember, Bamba was a hero to start with & we got rid because of his mistakes & unnecessary risks (EXACTLY the same as Pontus).
Might have to be Dave back from his loan as an emergency CH, did ok when he did it one game last season
Pontus is a card magnet, partly his way of playing partly his attitude, he was very unlucky last night but he hadn't been unlucky for all of them. The fans favourite thing has created hype but I think he largely lives up to it. I like Bartley but he's made more mistakes than jansson of late. Ayling, who many think us a candidate for player of the season tried to give a goal and a penalty away yesterday and he has previous. We have a great defence I wouldn't say any are over-hyped but none are perfect.
As for the keeper situation, we took a gamble not getting one in in January. An injury or sending off for green and we have a 20 year old with one senior game (a year ago in a dead rubber) heading into the playoffs. BPF is a cool lad and I think he could handle it, but really the playoffs would be no place to be effectively making your professional debut. They have had plenty of chances to get him out on loan and give him some experience, let's hope it doesn't come back to bite us.
The difference is that Pontus puts every part of him into defending. Apart from Wood, he is arguably our player of the season. Whatever league we're in next season, we will need to have cover for Pontus beyond just Cooper
Let me say it slowly. If we Dont Go Up Pontus Wont be here The precontract agreement is not enforceable. Cellino just conned you again.
The predated contract is not legal in the uk. The con was not making it an extention of the current contract. We get nothing if he walks and a number of prem clubs have already approached him and his agent as he is still effectively out of contract.
Not horrified, but the only one who saw Greens mistake and honest enough to mention it..... Green should know better being an ex England keeper.
If you had your glasses on you'd see the mistake he made, but on dustbin man wages maybe you can't afford'em......
Absolute nonsense. 1. Give us a link to prove this (I know that you will be unable to). 2. Give us a view of the wording of the contract so we can compare it to the info in the link you give (I know that you will be unable to). As I said earlier, you're talking speculative nonsense, but will happily be proved wrong with the correct evidence, above. As you know, I worked with IBM before I retired. We regularly had clients sign 'pre-contracts'. It was legally binging. Buggered if I can remember their name. 'Intention to proceed' notes, or something like that.
