If Jock did know then so did Birt, no one else has said that Jock kicked Torbett out apart from Birt as far as I can recall, and I am 100% positive that it was only Birt who said Jock did it to protect the good name of the club. I for one don't believe a bit of it.

Which brings me to my main point, Torbett would not have been called a ***** back then, people of a certain vintage never heard that word until the 90s, he would have simply have been called a ****, his behaviour whilst abhorrent was tolerated or ignored back then, we can't judge people based upon our modern values and an vast increase in accountability for crimes. Thousands of people are coming forward nowadays complaining of abuse carried out in that era, the common thread is that no one knew about the abuse and even if they had suspicions they seldom acted upon them.

"Former Celtic directors Mr Kevin Kelly, 61, and Mr James Farrell, 77, said they never heard of any allegations concerning the accused and Mr Kelly, a director in Torbett's Trophy Centre business, denied every talking to Mr Birt about the matter.Asked if Mr Stein had tried to cover-up any allegations Mr Farrell said: ''He would have been playing with dynamite if he had done that. Jock would never have behaved like that.''

One man's word that Jock "knew".

However that being said, I have no doubt that if someone did know for sure, apart from gossip, then the people who let Torbett anywhere near parkhead after he left should be hanging their heads in shame.

You on the other hand have been protecting the individual whilst ignoring and diminishing the victims of abuse perpetrated by not only Torbett but at least two others at your club. Classing their claims as rumour even though Torbett was tried and convicted on their testimony.
