The Leicester City "spiral" watch!

Discussion in 'The Premier League' started by Hoddle is a god, Jan 17, 2016.

  1. Yes, I know. We weren't as good at parking the bus as Leicester, or Chelsea for that matter (when they very successfully parked the bus against Real). It created some of the most negative anti-football the World has ever seen. "Pussy Football," I call it, CFC.

Not sure that any of this adds to or detracts from what I have said?

I may be wrong, but I think the last time we played Real in a competitive fixture was in 1998, when we beat them in the European Super Cup final.

in regards to your last post, my point was about the highlighted part here. I'm not discussing how we approach next week and whether attacking means we will concede more. What I am saying is that you are running scared with your prediction so have changed the goalposts to try and cover yourself if they don't get a ton of goals by suggesting the possession stats will suit your argument and you can claim a dry humping. Everyone can see this

It is odd though, all these years Chelsea and Real played in the CL, and we never drew each other, in nearly 20 years.

  7. Not sure that's a fair comment, mate.

    Wrong.

I said that notwithstanding the fact that they'd finish top 4 last season, this season they would collapse in the league. That is exactly what has happened.

    Last night was an embarrassment.

Wrong. I said that I was fearful that they could get dry-humped by Sevilla.

They didn't, so my fears were allayed.

Wrong. I said that they could count themselves lucky if they managed to keep the score below 3-0. As it turned out, that is what they did, so I was right - they can count themselves lucky.

...all of which is coming to pass.

When you look at it, I am a ****ing football genius, Bodi.

  9. Ah, I may be thinking of Mourhino when he managed Real, and used their combined talent to park the bus against Barca or Bayern, in order to fend off a dry humping.

I remember the fans being less than happy about it.

That said, I'm sure that Mourhino had you parking the bus in one European tie...

Why all the moving the goalposts then?

    #8652
  13. Moving of what goalposts?

I'm not trying to score any points, here, Johnny!

I have been a conduit for discussion. Nothing more.

When I say something like: "Leicester will do well to keep the score below 3-0, tonight," that is not the same as me saying: "Leicester will definitely lose 3-0."

You must read and comprehend what it is that I actually write, and not what you want me to have said in order for you to go off on your childish rampages.

  14. Angry Leicester felled by poor penalty decision, but heroics in Spain keep them in chase for place in last four!
    (Daily Mirror, today)

    Heroics in Spain!
    <doh>

Look, I know some of you lads think I have a downer on Leicester, but I really don't! All I want is a little bit of perspective to be applied to all of this.

An honest headline would have been:-

"Leicester disappointed with wrong penalty call, but evened out with penalty that wasn't called, so no reason to be angry about anything. Oh, and they are still in the tie by parking the bus and clinging on like pussy limpets!"

I would have accepted that headline.

Instead, the likes of Johnny and Bodi are having a pop at me, and calling me bitter ffs!

  16. Yes, Tobias, I do. I have voiced my views on that, when it all kicked off.

I'm not sure what more you want me say about it that I haven't already said.

We made a very poor showing in Europe, this season; there is no getting away from that fact.

That said, if you had asked me would I trade a better showing in Europe for a finish outside the top 4 in the Prem, my very definite answer would be "NO!" I would not.

Yes, I wish we could have been more competitive, but not at the expense of what we are doing in the Prem.

Poch is still setting down his markers, and we have the small matter of building, delivering and settling into a new stadium to contend with. Maintaining a strong presence in the Prem is more important to me than "having a go in Europe." I am assuming that the structure of our squad prevents us from being competitive on both fronts. I know our strengths and weaknesses, and I know that we are not City or Chelsea, and cannot buy two top quality squads; we have to make the best of the resources that we do have.

In short, I bring the same degree of reality to my own team as I do when I look at other clubs and fans. I hate delusion, Tobias, and I will stamp all over it the minute I spot it rearing its fatuous head on this board. Johnny doesn't like. Bodi gives the impression that he doesn't, but I know that he's merely having a laugh with me, most of the time.

What's the point in finishing in the top 4 if you make a dogs cock of the CL and then the Europey?

    That's a Wengerism
