    Exactly!

We're dealing with politically naive people here. And in Spicer's case, not a very bright one either.

I never meant to imply he didn't make it up. I'm sure Xi isn't happy with Trump making him sound like he has such a poor grasp of English either :D

I wouldn't be surprised if he made the whole thing up. Even if he isn't, the take away is that Trump remembered the cake that was served better than the conversation, or even the country he bombed. Ffs, America!

“He is so overconfident and yet so logically unconvincing that my interpreter friends and I often joke that if we translated his words as they are, we would end up making ourselves sound stupid.”
Yep. He makes other people sound dumb because he's just that idiotic.

I think we pretty much agree. I'm just very concerned with the narrative that's developing.

The White House reminds me of the film "Animal House" and Trump is Bluto! "Food fight!" Or is he the one who led the band into a brickwall?

There's the other shocking part: how Trump's decision wasn't based on intelligence briefings or military recommendations, but his daughter essentially saying "Daddy, it's so sad what happened over there" - a story which initially sounded like it was made up...until Eric Trump only went and confirmed it: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/201...ction-syria-proves-not-league-putin-says-son/

I guess we can expect a missile strike to hit W8 because Melania is so upset that the Mail reported that she was an escort then...

Not sure why the need for Israel-bashing at this time. Clearly it's a fact that Israel has killed innocent people when attacking Gaza, but it's difficult to hit exactly who you want to when the people you want to fight deliberately conceal themselves among the civilian population. There is obviously also a massively more complex background to the conflict too. One thing the hundreds of thousands of civilian casualties in Syria should tell us though is that as unpalatable as it may be to some, Israel does show some restraint when attacking civilian areas. You think not? You think Israel deliberately tries to kill civilians (as suggested by your white phosphorous comment), then you probably are not aware just how destructive an army can be in a densely populated area when they are trying to be. I would suggest that if Israel were really trying to kill civilians then they could easily rack up a hundred thousand dead rather than a thousand. And believe me I'm not making excuses, I'm not happy when any civilians are killed, but we are talking about a different scale of problem in Syria, and a completely different mentality.

    From Human Rights Watch

International humanitarian law—the laws of war—does not ban white phosphorus munitions either as an “obscurant” to hide military operations or as an incendiary weapon. Its use nonetheless remains regulated by laws-of-war rules on the conduct of hostilities, restrictions that limit the use of all weapons in order to minimize harm to civilians and civilian property. Moreover, particular aspects of white phosphorus munitions—its incendiary effect that causes horrific burns and its wide dispersal when air-burst—raises additional international law concerns.

International humanitarian law also protects civilian objects, which are defined as anything not considered a military objective. Prohibited are direct attacks against civilian objects, such as homes, apartments, places of worship, schools, and hospitals—unless they are being used for military purposes. Should a hospital be used for military purposes, it may still only be attacked after a warning with a reasonable time-limit has been issued and gone unheeded.

The laws of war prohibit indiscriminate attacks. Indiscriminate attacks are of a nature to strike military objectives and civilians or civilian objects without distinction. Examples of indiscriminate attacks are those that are not directed at a specific military objective or that use weapons that cannot be directed at a specific military objective. Thus, if a party launches an attack without attempting to aim properly at a military target, or in such a way as to hit civilians without regard to the likely extent of death or injury, it would amount to an indiscriminate attack

The parts is bold were willfully ignored by the IDF, who not only deployed white phosphorus in populated areas on several occasions, but also deployed the weapons against a refugee camp and a United Nations school that was being used as a civilian refuge.

It's also worth noting that the Israelis denied using white phosphorus for several weeks in spite of the overwhelming amount of photographic and video evidence of white phosphorus being deployed - and, more worryingly, the BBC ran an article that showed an image of white phosphorus being deployed yet actively discredited the idea...because Israel denied using white phosphorus, and rather than consider the possibility the Israelis were lying, they just went with the official version from them as opposed to what the International Red Cross, Amnesty International or Human Rights Watch were saying.

He'd have to talk to her at some point for that to happen.

If Carter Page was in a series like The Sopranos, then he'd have been buried in the woods about 2 episodes in.
You could quiz him on what he had for lunch and he'd seem guilty of committing some sort of crime.
How has nobody stopped him from doing these interviews?

If I were him, then I'd avoid drinking any hot beverages in the near future. Or ever again.

If Theresa May is looking for something else trivial to distract us from the shady **** she's involved with, she can always start kvetching about how it's Easter yet The Great Escape doesn't appear to be in the TV schedules...

Remember what I said about the Stockholm attack slipping out of the headlines when it turned out the person responsible wasn't Arabic enough? Now it's looking as if the same can be said for the Dortmund attack: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-39603467
