not hard given they were relegated in that time to their lower leagues plus they didn't have sky money to waste.

the simple reason is they and most italian teams know one thing above all others... how to defend. hell look at thier international team of no hopers. they constantly over acheive relative to the tlanet on offer simply cos they know how to get through a game.

If after the derby, the gap to 4th has widened to 6 points or more and he's in the EL semis i think he'll rest a few in the league for last few weeks anyway.

He'll do the same as Klopp and go all out for the EL.

What stop him whingeing thou <laugh>

I have to say it is interesting to note how the games do pile up and really there is few solutions to this.

Its the same for all teams in european competition but of course it was utds league cup run that adds some games... plus the fa cup run (brief) they had

It seems to be that the league cup could be structured slightly differently to solve this and cancelling a league game for it then trying someohe to reschedule is unwie of the FA and doesn't hlep anyone.

similarly the league scheduling games on FA cup weekend then cancelling and attempting to fit in is also idiotic.

When i compared this to spain before i noted that

    a) spain has no less games really

    b) spain schedules top half teams in lea liga to join cup in round of 32 AND they also ensured no team in europe met any sort of real team (they effectively draw off european pot v secunda dvi pot) this seems quite unfair really

    c) this means nobody in europe plays a realy hard tie till last 16.

    d) the round of 16 and QF is played off in january... OUTSIDE the european games.

    e) the SF is played early feb. also outside the european comps

    f) all ties are played midweek.

This means that no league matches are affected, teams can play reserves or suqad players in it.... there is not extra pile up around european games.....

On the other hand it isn't rated as a comp all that much is it?

The harsh truth about the FA cup is for all the talk about it being devalued it still enjoys a status, on a weekend, replays etc etc.

In many ways YOu have to suspect that england has one too many cups which is why arsneal used to play kids in league cup.... AND it creates problems for successful teams like utd if they go on a cup run and are in europe.

We really don't make european success easy.... if you are leicester mind.. you can focus solely on euope :bandit:

In my view If we refuse to do an winter break the least we can do is push the cups into the pre and post european goupr timings and really try and avoid league disruption.

Woudl anyone object to league cup being midweeks in august? we played 23rd august this year in round 2... but why? why coudl the rounds not be lcoser together and all played off....

oh yeah the IDIOTIC early season internationals.... <doh> I freaking hate those.
