The best thing about today was the pidgeon that decided to poop every so often on the row in front of me...lol

lol...especially when the pidgeon had a good aim! ;)

There were parts of the match that were dull, but it was a good game, especially when we had the ball, which we did a lot in the first half. But the unjustified result made the pidgeon the best bit! ;)

Just what is going on with Hornet Player?

Last week it came on an hour before kick off and we had the 3CR sports program that had a good bit of Watford content, then of course the wrong plug in wrong hole and we lost the first 15 mins of the game.

Today no build up, no early team news from Jon Marks, it only appeared when the game was kicking off. Strangely without warning Jon disappears in the middle of the first half. He might have said that he was going, but if he did I missed it.

Half time arrives and we are cut off from the latest scores that we normally get from 3CR. Apart from the good nosh remark when Jon didn't realise that his mic was on there was 15 mins of silence.

Come the end of the match and we are told that there will be the usual post match interview with the manager, but again the plug is pulled.

When the Player covered the youth team in their cup matches last season, we were told that they would be away during half time, this time nothing.

From the official site and the e-mail I had from Jon Marks last week it was clear that some very hard discussions were going to take place during the week. It would seem that those talks have not been too successful, with, I can only assume, 3CR refusing to give the complete service that I have become used to. There has been no explanation from anyone as to the likelihood of normal service being restored, and why we suddenly need two commentators to cover the game.

You are still selling the player WFC, can you please tell us what is going on.

So the Steptoes with their £50 tickets managed to attract 15100 spectators. That has to be bad for the first game back in the prem. Is it a case of can't pay or won't pay?

I have been reading from people at the Vic today about the up grade on the facilities.

The pitch looked good by common consent, but it usually does at the start of the season.

    The new seats were fine.

The upgrade to the speaker system: Didn't notice anything different.

The new big screen: Looked like the old one, but had been dusted off.

    Fair comment or not?

The pitch looked fantastic, but narrower. They have cut the width by a good few feet.
The new seats were the same as the old ones but perhaps a bit more sturdy, and very shiny and yellow!
The upgrade to the speaker system - what upgrade? I didn't notice a difference.
The new big screen was much clearer, and a little more fancy than the old one with far better graphics. The surround to the screen was the same which might be causing confusion.

OK, the view from the Rookery .....

All seats replaced in the Rookery, which is a great help I know one person (Mr KFR) has broken 4 seats in his "wild celebrations", so about time too.

The pitch has been spruced up a bit and narrowed as the apron has been expanded to take in the "Watford FC" decals.

The screen has been replaced/upgraded as the seams between the cells are now "seamless".

New tannoy ...... what was that the man said on the tannoy ...... dunno I didn't hear it either. Err what new tannoy?

South West corner - a man told me "it should be complete by October", err ok if you say so. I wont hold my breath.

Morning All ........ feeling quite groggy - the bad flight has really hit my ears but enough about me!

I'm still on a negative about aspects of yesterday's game. Iwelumo had the kind of game I remember him for, where he looks as if he is just about to get involved, or nearly did that. But if you put a montage of his performance together he achieved less in 70 mins than Deeney did in 20!

One part of a big forward's game is when they are "too heavy" when they need to be nimble, and then "too lightweight" when they need to be robust. Darius Henderson has troughs of this kind of form and CI suffers from this. Centre halves can knock him about too easily, so he then drifts wide hoping to dominate the full back, but then commits petty fouls. All in all he has had few touches of the ball and nothing to show.

It is clear he is struggling for fitness and I expect him to be withdrawn around the 70 min mark quite often in this early period (Will Buckley also suffered from this). Chris needs a goal so badly that I thought we might see him snatching at chances yesterday, but I can only remember one incident when he should have had an opportunity (and he chose to pass the buck).

So onto Tuesday which I expect to be a difficult evening.

If it helps I have West Ham down as a defeat, but Coventry is the target game IMO.

I think Cov are in a mess and Andy Thorn isn't the best manager at this level, so I'll be looking for all 3 points from that one. When I look at our 1st choice back 5 I think it is probably the most experienced in this league and I thought they looked comfortable yesterday, except for that 1 moment.

Back from my exploring early, the rain stopped us. There is good being manly but there is stupid being too manly and this country does not forgive the stupid.

I looked at the statistics and see Watford dominated the shooting and did well in possession. One shot one goal not good for a week of rest. What is happening with the cautions, four in two games, is this returning to Dave Bassett style?

Afternoon all - What a frustrating game yesterday..I really hope we are not in for more of that this season! I thought Derby were very poor and were Savage without Savage!

Lot of football coming up, with 3 games in 7 days - my fav away game on saturday with a session in my fav away pub!

Good to see the Premshite starting well - good old Joey, always at it!
