Who gives a **** about who created them? This is not a councilling session. This is about what the majority want for the good of the board, no need to go into the ins and outs of it, the results are there for all to see. There's no bias in my proposal because I'm up for the Lesta Spiral thread to get banned too.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't on this board it seems!

Since this is about the only post in the past couple of pages worthy of dignifying with a response...

Here's the issue about fans of various clubs and their clubs' history: at what point does it become a crutch, and at what point does it become unhealthy?

Case in point, during the 2005-6 season when Forest had been demoted to League One, during a particularly dreary match against Tranmere one of their fans suddenly got to their feet and started banging on about how they'd won the European Cup - to which the fan next to him told him to sit down and shut up because it was a game of football, not Top Trumps.

When it comes to fans and their history, it's best to look at it like the careers of former child stars, so while Tobes is trying to work out how many times to say "bitter" in another meaningless and quite remarkably angry response I'll just list them.

First you have the likes of Christian Bale, Natalie Portman or Jodie Foster: they were child stars many, many years ago, but their careers have been so successful that they continue to be relevant in the modern day. So just like someone can say Portman was superb in Leon or Black Swan, you can run off a list of historical or modern Man Utd success.

After that there's the likes of Emma Watson, who while people insist their career is going from strength to strength it really isn't as they'll only ever be Hermione Granger (mostly because, in Watson's case, that is literally the only performance she is capable of). This sums up Celtic quite well, because while the Lisbon Lions achieved something great, we have to be realistic and accept their success since then is less because they're a big fish in a small pond and more a goldfish in an Evian bottle.

After that we have the likes of Neil Patrick Harris, who had a fair degree of success when they were younger and a fair degree of success now, so they have a good baseline of the occasional peak and seem to avoid any troughs, sort of like Galatasaray having a reasonably successful period in European competition during the mid-to-late 90s, but now domestic success is their limit.

And then we get into the comparisons people don't like...

First of all there's Lindsay Lohan, who was really big for a few years, but a complete trainwreck these days who is so desperate for attention it's a surprise she hasn't signed up with Brazzers yet. Milan are a pretty good example of this, as they were huge in the late 80s and early 90s, and were always there or there abouts during the Serie A boom - but when the bubble burst, they became a basket case and can't get back to their former status, and banging on about their success went from being mildly amusing to just plain embarrassing.

And then, lastly, there's Bobby Driscoll, who for a brief period was successful - but within a decade they were homeless, dead of a heroin overdose, buried in a pauper's grave because it wasn't until eighteen months and an exhumation afterwards when somebody recognised the body. This is where the Blackburn comparisons come in, because that pretty much sums up the club's status following their moment in the limelight: people barely remember it, so talking about it is just tragic - which is why you didn't see many Villa fans (if any) talking about their past accomplishments last season.

Or to put it another way, when talking about a club's past successes, fans need to ask themselves one simple question: is this what they look like?

If the answer is a resounding "Yes", then maybe they should stop banging on about their club's history as a first, last and only line of defence.

Keep your tights on <laugh> ... I'm not damning you ... let me expand ... I would welcome ANY initiative that helps to reduce the mindless squabbling that pervades the threads on this particular board ...

The Leicester City Spiral thread, started in January 2016 implying that Leicester City "might" just hang on to a top 4 spot at the ned of the season should have been closed as soon as the title had been won with 2 games still to play .. because it had obviously failed and pretty abjectly given a title won by 10 points from the nearest challenger.

The reason it didn't was because the petulant childish twat who created it was not man enough to accept that he had been wrong; instead insisting that it had to be kept there because unless we could acheive the same heights this season then his "prediction" of a downward spiral would somehow be vindicated <doh>

If you take such childish stupidity to its' ultimate extremity then you just create a thread about any team that wins something with a title of "If they don't do this repeatedly and forever then I predict they will be in a downward spiral in the future" <doh>

The biggest disappointment was that he got ANY support for his childishness ... unfortunately, perhaps amazingly (to any truly impartial observers) ... he did <laugh>

The majority called him a twat and some went further creating parody threads etc - I can agree that a lot of it went over the top, indeed was unecessary ... but it all comes back to Twatfish... if he could just "man-up" and admit when he gets it wrong then life would be a lot calmer.

All the "New HIAG" bollox aside, I really don't think he can ... or ever will.... but I remain open to being convinced otherwise. <ok>

The only thing important now for Leicester is Champions League , they are safe in the Premier and have nothing to play for so of course they are not worried about resting players ... it ain't rocket surgery HAIG . I guess the closest thing to play for for Leicester in the Premier is reaching 51 points to finish higher than Chelsea the season after the title win , but who cares really . Good luck to you John and the other Fox fans in your amazing run in Champions League , something some high spending clubs could only dream about having the run you've had

Since our success didn't stop after the 1960-1 season - and you can feel free to Google it because, unlike certain posters, I'm not so insecure that I have to bang on about trophies every time somebody dares say we're not having a good season - isn't it obvious that Spurs qualify for the first category?

...in spite of the best efforts of Alan Sugar, Juande Ramos, Damien Comolli, Franco Baldini and Luis Andre de Pinha Carbal e Villas-Boas to drag us into the Lohan sector.

    No you've misinterpreted the scenario.

Leicester City are merely leverage against an undesirable poster <ok>

Bang on. I know I haven't seen eye to eye with you on the Raneiri issue but that's what a forum is about. Discuss, agree, disagree whatever. I doesn't mean I don't think you're a great poster and bang on the money here. I'm fed up with it personally. Personally I've never given it large or had it in for Spurs. On the contrary I've said there's much positive about them and some great posters such as Spurlock and RCL. I never make it about a particular club, just about what is being posted whoever it is. Just happens one or two Spurs fans only ever write **** about Leicester so naturally it'll wind us up

I don't think we'all reach 51 at all as we left it too late. Top half would be great at this stage. At one point yesterday I looked how close WBA were in 8th and with us playing them and having a game in hand I wondered but then we lost <laugh> 9th or 10th would be good.
Thanks for your wishes :emoticon-0148-yes: hopefully we can represent the country further yet

The bullshit being Leicester fans responding to Danny Simpson acting like a spoiled child because he didn't get his jelly and ice cream...sorry, chicken burgers and potato wedges is for them to go "B-b-b-ut we won summink!" as if that's any kind of response.

But, hey, who am I to stop Fosse et al trying to see if that works when they're in front of the magistrate for doing 80mph on the pavement?
