lol well... judging by barkleys lack of self defence, i'm sure what barkley said wasn't deserving of a punch to the face.

in any case, the guy smacks him one without him expecting it so it is sly.

Don't think his leg break helped while his peers progressed he lost a year playing/development.

There was a recent case of a guy outside a club being killed by a single unprovoked punch

That's the standard by which people like this should be judged

I've seen the footage and you can't see from that what was said, add alcohol to any situation and punches are going to fly. You're right there's never any justification for it but you can't just call it sly either

If you can't drink without punching someone it's your responsibility not to drink

You can call it sly mate, as if you get to the point were a fight is where it's going, then you front it out.

You don't just not say a word and launch an uppercut, that's a ****house trick, and therefore sly by definition.

I remember when Robbie Fowler got a few digs in the Holiday Inn in town after simply going on a night out with his uncle, they should maybe consider not going into clubs/pubs in town and stick to places in quieter areas.

    This ^

I watched a programme about "One punch killers" a while back, it's more common that people seem to think.

Absolutely. I'm not defending the puncher at all. I just don't think it's sly necessarily. Call it what it is, thuggish and loutish.

Recognising one's mistake and putting it right is a sign of maturity - as opposed to, oh I don't know, writing the same old repetitive rubbish on a football forum in an attempt to annoy people perhaps?

What happens with one punch ^^

I have met Connors mum as she champions organ donation and educates against violence as she lost her son to a single punch.

The only thing that keeps the family together is that he has changed/saved the life of six people

Ross Barkley: Everton midfielder was victim of unprovoked attack, says lawyer
Everton midfielder Ross Barkley was the victim of an "unprovoked attack" in a Liverpool bar, his lawyer has said.

CCTV footage circulating on social media shows the 23-year-old England player being hit in the face by a man.

Barkley was not seriously injured in the incident, which came hours after he played the full match for the Toffees in their win over Leicester on Sunday.

Everton have not commented and no complaint has been made to police, who are viewing the footage.

"Ross was the victim of an unprovoked attack by a stranger who approached him on Sunday evening," said Matt Himsworth, managing director of Himsworths Legal.

Barkley, who trained as normal with his team-mates on Monday, has played 22 times for England and was part of Gareth Southgate's most recent Three Lions squad.

The Liverpool-born player joined Everton as an 11-year-old and has made 173 first-team appearances.

After Sunday's match, manager Ronald Koeman said Barkley should be sold if he does not sign a new contract.

I think it's a must that Crystal Palace get something from the game tonight. If Arsenal win, i think they could go on to get 4th. Even predicting them to draw tonight still means it will be close for 4th.

United only need to win their two games in hand to level with us on points. Just like us I believe Arsenal and united are going to drop points. Not getting all the points against Bournemouth was not a good thing.

If Man Utd win their games in hand against City and Chelsea then yeah fair enough they are level, but Mourinho has shown zero inclination or ability to win these types of games all season
