He wasn't moving away from the goal in the sense that it lowered his chances of scoring, he was clearly rounding the keeper and if anything the touch he took put him a better position to score. Thought both teams had a certain early season rustiness about them but overall I'm not too disappointed as I think you'll be a tough outfit this year and we certainly won't be the last team you take points of this year on the road. Obviously all Liverpool fans want to win all our home games especially but this is football and we wouldn't love it if things were clear-cut before a ball was even kicked. If we can repeat the first half performance more often than the second then we will be some team this year so I think there are positives to be taken for both teams from this game.

I've never understood the relevance of how early in a game it is if it's a red card offence it's still a red card offence (and had he not been taken out I'd have bet my house on him scoring thus by any stretch of the imagination it was a pretty damn clear goal scoring opportunity). I'm certain if Sunderland had been playing at Stamford Bridge or Mold Trafford today they'd have had Richardson sent off but it didn't happen and we should still have been capable of going on to win the game the fact that we didn't is credit to how Bruce set Sunderland up combined with our performance level dropping considerably once Suarez tired second half.
Don't be so silly, that was the kind of challenge that happens week in week out when 2 players go for a ball in the air with their heads and 1 gets there first, there was no high studs involved! If your trying to make out that was anything more than a free kick then you really are a fool.
