What field, where? Who would look afer the field, the food, the water, the vet visits? Has a horse yet been trained to do this? Take away the racing industry and where do thoroughbreds go; is it Brady's field?

What's bull fighting got to do with it?

we ain't talking about one horse are we, if the whole industry was banned

you're acting like horses would be worse off, would they ****.. you're trying to act like it's the only way the horses will live.

and if you are a fan of horse racing then you must also be in agreement with bull fighting.. using animals for entertainment and money.

using animals for sport and entertainment is pathetic and cowardly fact

Ah, you're catching on, a bit.

Many thousands of horses would be redundant; what would you do with them? Currently their exercise, feed, shelter and general well-being is managed by man, those same people who train them to be racers; who takes over?

I'm not acting like anything, I'm asking questions. Do you think horses don't enjoy what they do? Have I said I'm a fan? If I was, why would I enjoy or support bull-fighting?

oh would they? so horses just want to race do they? breeding purely for racing wouldn't happen for a start
you're acting like horses would be devastated without racing

they are what they are because man decides to use them for a sport
if man stops using them as a sport then horses hang about in fields or don't get born

and if someone enjoys horse racing then why not bull fighting? it's both a entertaining sport containing animals
    same thing

and give me proof horses love horse racing like you say they do

comparing a jockey to a f1 driver is the most ******ed thing i've heard in all my life honestly

why not make dog fighting legal? same thing
    or cock fighting? same thing

Worst tip thread ever. I have eaten horses in Switzerland and would eat my losing horse as punishment if it lost me money.

Their numbers would decline, massively. Their numbers would be devastated without horse sport and work (is there a difference?).

How, in your field, would they get the exercise they are built for?

Have you ever seen the excitement and thrill of a horse (or a family pet dog) before, during and after exercise? Have you also ever seen a horse (or a dog) refuse to take part in what their owner wants from them?

When Red Rum lost, was he put to the sword?

    Kinell

I agree with Den, I wouldn't bet on this race specifically due to the number of deaths in it.

I think bookies in general take all punters for mugs.

    However, this thread, <laugh>

    Yeah
    That escalated quickly!

I was only saying I'm not betting on it...not that I was planning to set up a sanctuary for every racehorse in the world and demanding everyone involved in racing is shot

All I can guarantee is I won't lose (or win) money on it

A small pebble thrown into a lake can cause a big ripple Den.

You should measure your words more carefully in future.

I wouldn't do anything with horses, include bet on them in jump races

If jump racing was banned (which I haven't suggested) then of course they'd breed less of them, and in the meantime the retired ones would get looked after in exactly the same way as they do now. Despite lots dying lots more don't and get retired and kept now. They're not retired and put down

I suppose if I was going to suggest anything practical it would be to set limits on the jumps themselves to make them reasonably safe

For now all it effects is my getting patterns thanks

I've never really thought of it along the same lines as you den , until my extremely fit hairdresser started saying the same yesterday and I immediately became 100 % on board with the viewpoint
