I have to admit I'm speculating about GM, based on observing the situation & what I'd do to strengthen my negotiating position if I was him. I didn't think of him harbouring a grudge - & that might be significant. Not long to we find out anyway. Fingers crossed! :D

Still not sure about the 'rolling' part. Normally you get a contract & you both walk away at the end of it, unless you wish to extend. But we don't add the word 'rolling to it. I'm deffo confused.

One showing at 12:30, so 1pm is out of the question. Will get in asap.

Been selling since last June, to no avail (as I refuse to be stiffed by the offers I've had). Sudden upsurge in interest atm. Staying in Wetherby. Downsizing to a home that'll suit us when we become (even more) doddery.

That's exactly what I thought it meant. So I guess Evans must have got a settlement if it was along these lines. Not so sure what's happening with GM's contract though. Wonder if it's the same format.

Worth a quick read, chaps - will take about 2 mins tops ... http://www.thefootballnetwork.net/main/s115/st73284.htm

Good find, LL. Clears it up for me. <ok>

    .........................................................................................................................................................................................................

You're giving goal differences and league positions, not tactics.
What's your point? My point is that points make prizes, and this is the best position we've been in since we came up from L1. Would you rather we used the full range of tactics available to us & got relegated? No, didn't think so - it's our final position that counts, not how we got there. And anyone who's attended matches this year will tell you that it's been brilliant. Not perfect, but brilliant all the same.

My point is, I said he needs to learn tactics, you gave goal differences and positions, they aren't the same thing.

Monk sticks with the same tactics game in game out, ball to the wingers, cross the ball and hope Wood is there to tap it in, it's the same game play every game.
Whatever makes you think that? It's obviously a guess, and it's quite wrong. Yes, it's a well-used tactic, but not the only one, as you mistakenly assume. I'm guessing you used to object to Sgt Wilko when Chappie knocked in goals from crosses. Same point again - it's our final position that counts, not how we get there.

When Wilko was running show he didn't have just one game plan. You mentioned one player, what about all the other players who scored goals from in and outside the area.

Why would it obviously be a guess Jock?......please don't tell me you've resorted to having digs and making false accusations during our very friendly debate...<hug>

You know nothing about me as a long time Leeds United supporter. I don't have digs at you about your continual support of Leeds, so I'd appreciate it if you refrained from resorting to transparent digs and accusations of mine.

Our debates are exactly that, a debate, and not about firing arrows at each other.

How often do you see us attacking their goal down middle?

More often than you, obviously! Guess these attacks don't come over well enough in the commentaries. Same point again - it's our final position that counts, not how we get there.

There you go again Jock, having a sarcastic dig at someone who can't get to games, and I've mentioned it numerous times.

I asked a question and you replied about our final position, totally different subjects. Our final position is yet to be determined this season by the way.

I agree with you as far as radio commentary is concerned, a lot of us rely on the commentaries of Popey and Whelan; how they commentate gives us a mental picture of the match.

Watching the game on net gives those of us watching a better picture of what's happening thanks to close up camera work and replays, we can actually see what's happening at the opposite end to where you sit.

Having said that, Monk is the one who decided whether we should play in cup comps or not, who the hell does he think he is.
Actually, I think you'll find that we're obliged to under FL rules. Not GM's decision to make...........sarcasm is the lowest form of wit.

Monk didn't take the cup games seriously, that's blatantly obvious when he followed the PL teams selection policy and didn't field a full team, and the Sutton game was a joke. He didn't care whether we won or lost, but the paying and travelling fans did. Monk is there to do a job for every game, not the ones he thinks he can pick and choose.

He picked the team v Sutton and it came back to bite him on his proverbial cos he thought it would be a cakewalk, yet there didn't seem to be any game plan, no tactics and no organisation, our defenders were so bamboozled they started their own little game of passing football.

That's the beauty of cup tournaments. We've been the underdogs in a few ties in the past few years & were thrilled to beat PL teams. Some might view his choices as a blessing - saving our squad for the main business - promotion. Would you really sacrifice being in contention for a little bit of cup quarter or semi glory? You're in a small minority if that's your view.

Revie did, Wilko did, O'Leary did.......and who's to say we couldn't go all the way and win it, and get into Europe. Playing cup games is no different from playing league games, you're there to win for a reason.

Blackwell got us to playoff final at the Millennium stadium in 2006, only to lose to Watford.
McCallister took us to playoff final at Wembley in 2008, only to be beaten by Doncaster.

I'm not sure what your point is with these statements. I as referring to our record since we were elevated to the Championship. Now that you mention them, another point comes into play - parachute payments. For these 2 years, the first annual payment was £12m, followed by a further £12m the next year. Villa just received £40, and are expected to coin £87m over 3 years in parachute payments. The Championship is now awash with clubs wallowing in parachute payments. It wasn't then, so you cannot compare our achievements then to our achievement this season.Or do you disagree with that too?

Bottom line to this discussion - GM deserves another contract & there hasn't been a manager who's come near to his achievements for donkey's years. I've provided hard evidence to support this, whereas you've whined, moaned & attacked GM in any way you can think of. You appear not to be interested in our results - only in us performing in some idealistically purist fashion that even Barcelona fail to manage. Or perhaps you're misunderstood?[/QUOTE]

Oh, you were referring to our record since we were elevated from L1, I must've missed that reference. We were elevated back in 2009/2010.

"there hasn't been a manager who's come near to his achievements for donkey's years". Blackwell and McCallister, as it stands, show's better achievements, but that's based on how long your own personal donkey's years are Jock.

Your hard evidence doesn't seem to be realistic evidence imo, but that's my opposite opinion to yours.

"I moaned and attacked GM", I've made no bones about my feelings for GM, as you and others know. I'm not 100% convinced by him, there's something not right with him. I don't think he's entirely honest, and I don't think he's as good as what others think, but that's my opinion.

You and others well know that I don't hold back on my personal and detailed opinions, I can't see the point, but at least I do give reasons why they are my opinions and why I think the way I do, and for the record, umpteenth time, I don't attack anyone for having their different opinions either.

I had a similar problem with McDermott, while everyone was saying he's the one to take us back to PL, and I copped some crap for it too, I doubted his abilities at Leeds despite what he did at Reading, well, McDermotts not here. However, I was 110% behind McCallister, I believed he could eventually take us back to PL, but that was cut short by Master Bates, cos imo he saw it too.

"whereas you've whined, moaned & attacked GM in any way you can think of. You appear not to be interested in our results - only in us performing in some idealistically purist fashion that even Barcelona fail to manage".

Are you back pedalling Jock? you've once again resorted to not only having a dig, but also defining what and how I write by making false accusations, you wouldn't be trying to get others to jump on your bandwagon by painting a negative picture of me, would you?

Maybe you should think back to the players you've criticised in past.

I want promotion just like everyone else, I want Leeds to play Liverpool, Man U and Arsenal again, but if we're playing mediocre and ugly football, and can see that Monk is not recognising and addressing our continual long term problems, just like others on here, then I'm going to say something about it, everyone else seems to be doing it on here, including you.

Out of curiosity, why does Monk deserve another contract, he hasn't achieved anything yet. Our present position only gives us a chance to play for the third promotion spot, we have yet to achieve that, then we have to win the playoff games to achieve promotion.

What has parachute payments got to do with managers achievements?.....I think you should stop stealing Shaks beers..
