Yeah I think Sam has some things to be blamed for in that department - since I started running with the running club they've always told of "quick heal" techniques but also said that the body heals better when left to heal naturally
Natural is always best mate, and the more often you naturally recover from a workout, the better the body becomes at doing it. Sometimes you can't recover in time, for you next race/match so you need artificial help, if used sparingly it probably won't do any damage long term.
Hang on, delayed reaction “I was playing for Sunderland when we were at home to Palace,” he said in an interview with The Sun. “Just as I was getting ready to take a throw-in Alan Pardew came along the touchline towards me and said: ‘Come and play for my team next year.’ “In the middle of a game, eh? I found that really funny. Then I told him: ‘OK, no problem.’” Hasn't PVA just admitted to being tapped up?
That's been swimming around my head as well - although the guy responsible for it is no longer part of the setup at Palace
He was employed by the club at the time though. I mean, making an approach like that during the game? Can there be a more inappropriate time to approach another player without his club's permission?
Agree with you but I am feeling very underwhelmed atm - until we get 3 (lucky ? ) points on Sunday - - Moyes last chance saloon time to loose his negative baggage of failure at your club
I'm sure he'll keep banging on about it until he gets a win, I can't see you lot breaking our unbeaten run, but I can't see us winning either, so hopefully Moyes will settle for a 0-0 as his redemption and then he can STFU.
That's right I go jogging quite a bit and often just run a muscle ache off when out - tip - jogging is also really good for sweating out cold symptoms
We have, away to Anderlecht. Mourinho said he'd rest players if he thought the challenge for 4th was over, perhaps if City and Liverpool win he might go with a weaker side.
Hopefully for us there'll be wins for your 2 (hated ? ) rivals then a win for us - a grasping fanciful thought -
So you honestly think Sam would jeopardise the long term well being of his players by implementing this constantly and without analysing what's best for each individual player or injury? Because that's mental Let's not forget he kept kaboul and kirchoff fit most of the season. 2 players know for chocolate knees etc. To say our injury list has anything to do with last season is just denial at how much of a state Moyes and his team have put us in Also I can't be arsed to find it but I'd like to see palace's injury list before and after Sam took over
Some irony in the bold bit though isn't there?-Players known for being injury prone stay fit for an entire season - then the manager leaves and one of them has played about 3 games all season due to injury? You say coincidence and it might be - I think there's more to it - I don't think either of them (or Cattermole) were allowed to recover naturally at any point and that's why they have suffered almost season ending injuries since he left
No irony at all unless you are straw clutching. I'd say it's more likely a change in the successful methods used to keep them fit has contributed to their struggles You said it yourself they were fit all year just about under Sam, he leaves, Moyes comes in and now there ****ed. In this scenario Moyes is the problem not the man who KEPT them fit
http://www.physioroom.com/news/english_premier_league/epl_injury_table.php http://www.express.co.uk/sport/foot...-every-player-missing-sportgalleries-pictures They've got worse mate.
Cheers for finding it bri I'm surprised by that but if we're using the logic of some on this thread that makes it all pardews fault Mind you there isn't much data for when they were sustained or pre Sam data there at first glance
But a player who plays an average of 15 games a season, once Allardyce is in charge, stays fit for 30+ games? That's not a natural healing or training . It simply can't be. Otherwise every other manager has failed with those players and Sam hasn't. I just don't think that's possible.
Was Kirchoff 'fit' for most of the season? I thought he arrived in January and was blowing out of his arse and couldn't do 90 mins until about March. I think one or two are getting carried away with the cryo-chamber thing. It has it's uses of course, but just as folk think it's not to blame for these injuries, it probably shouldn't be credited with fitness either. The issue I have with it is IF there's an injury, then it needs to heal properly and if a footballer has a calf strain/slight tear in hammy for example, something they might not feel due to adrenaline/attributing it to something else like lactic acid burn, then perhaps jumping into a cryotherapy module will do more damage than good. The next day that player may end up on the training pitch, before his injury has healed and do further damage. There's no manager out there who can boast of having a reputation for keeping players fit and healthy all season, otherwise every club would adopt these same measures, what's happened is probably down to coincidence and imo, probably lack of conditioning, most likely strength.
So you're basing your argument not on the fact that the players were fit under Sam but on what you think is possible. I know forums are essentially opinion based media but there seems to be an agenda to discredit the job Sam done here for what reason I don't know maybe just bitterness at how he left.
I agree with this there's no one way to treat injuries or keep players fit adaptation is key which is why I don't think the cryotherapy can be used as a stick against Sam as there will be many more options/methods used. In relation to kirchoff he was fit the majority of the from singing after gaining match fitness which is a different thing to being injury free
