Rather than talking about winning trophies, we need to see that Tottenham deserve full credit and to be shown more respect. We all want trophies but we need to be more realistic. Winning a trophy is not as easy as, for example, going to the shop and buying a pen.

If at the end of the season we finish in the top four, it is good for us. I have heard both Arsene Wenger and Pep Guardiola saying that finishing in the top four of the Premier League is like winning a trophy elsewhere.

It is very tough to finish in the top four. The competition is massive, so for Tottenham to be there, fighting, is a big credit to our players, the club, everyone. To be where we are is a massive achievement for us.

    Poch crushing another Narrative.

None of the hacks or pundits are talking about Spurs.

It's as though they resent us for being better than both 'Pool and United.

They will not begin to give us the full and proper credit that we deserve until they swallow their bias.

A babe in arms could have crushed this one.
Once a club with the Nth best 'financial power' in the PL claims a top 4 finish is hard,
then by definition the club whose financial power is lower even than that yet finishes
in the top 4 deserves MORE credit.

If Spurs do finish in the top 4, can someone get me a journo pass for a Wenger
press conference so I can WUM him with a question based on the above ?? :D

Poch's actually been very subtle with his comment: while the hacks would likely mock Wenger for that sentiment, they obviously wouldn't if Guardiola said it - so by reminding the hacks that Guardiola has said it means he's trapped them in their own argument...while also subtly reminding them that, contrary to what they keep reporting, City aren't thew team currently closest to Chelsea in the table by any stretch of the imagination.

Tis actually far worse for those managers AND the hacks.

    If their claims are :

    - true, then Spurs achieving this means the Narrative (TM) must be exactly as I stated.

    - false (achieving top 4 is no big deal once you reach critical financial power) , then by
definition finishing out of the top 4 or below Spurs is proof their club is run as an
    utter shambles either/both on/off-pitch.

The Express are running a story today about how we have drawn up a contract for Mauricio Pochettino's replacement, Luciano Spalletti. Apparently, MP is off to Barcelona or to be Argentina manager. It's not entirely clear.

This may be because IT'S A LOAD OF BOLLOCKS.

  9. Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola will bid for Tottenham left-back Danny Rose, 26, defender Kyle Walker, 26, and midfielder Dele Alli, 20, this summer as he eyes home-grown talent. (Manchester Evening News)

    "Bid for?"

    <doh>
When did they go up for sale?

Mauricio Pochettino would be open to joining a Serie A club, with Roma and Inter keen, if he decides to leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer, according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato.

Funny how they don't have a single quote to back this up, eh?

However it is understood (according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato) the Camorra in those cities will have to call in huge financial favours in order to meet the price demanded by Don Levy, overlord of Cosa Tottenham."

<fixed> <they are going to make Levy an offer he can refuse>

How hopelessly inaccurate: everyone knows the Banda della Magliana control Rome.

On the subject of mafia activity in Milan (not I said "mafia" in a lower case, so I am not implying the Cosa Nostra are involved...that should stop my thumbs getting broken for another week) after seizing a Ferrari 458 Spider the Italian police decided, rather than have the car crushed or impounded, they exercised their right to keep the seized vehicle for their own use, and this is what we got...

So with us being linked with Taurine FC Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita, it didn't take long before the phrase "Dier replacement" started doing the rounds....even though anyone who did the barest amount of research would know Keita's style of play is remarkably similar to Dembele's, but as the unsettle merchants aren't saying Man Utd are moving for Dembele there's no need to do their job properly.

    And then there's this...

Arsenal striker Alexis Sanchez, 28, has reportedly received a phone call from Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho about the possibility of joining the Red Devils this summer. (Metro)

...so where's the headlines about Man Utd illegally approaching a player contracted to Arsenal?

  16. Former Chelsea defender Wayne Bridge believes Blues manager Antonio Conte should push to sign Alli to replace the hole left by Frank Lampard at Stamford Bridge. (Metro)

    <doh>
And to think that a lot of us Spurs fans felt sorry for Bridge after Terry knobbed his wife!

Stamford Bridge is ALWAYS a hole. You can never increase/remove/replace that hole.

...wouldn't they need two players to fill that particularly rotund hole?
