They already built these as a trial first, on Thornton estate in west Hull, they were pre-fabricated in Bransburton and went up in three days...

They look good, like the colours but its as to whether the look will be long lasting, but I've no doubt that they are as eco friendly as buldings can be these days, insulation and the like, but the trouble used to be that Building Societies were against lending money for this type of housing, it had to be brick and block construction, or no loan. Not sure if its the same today but time and technology move on and if these things are durable then the more the merrier, even though it may desecrate my former trade, there is apparantly a shortage of bricklayers anyway, and I know why. Yes they do look kind of clinical, just wonder what they are like inside but brick built housing today costs a fortune and those at the bottom of the housing ladder haven't a cat in hell's chance of buying. Was looking at some new estates in Anlaby and Hessle and you won't get much for £150, 000 plus, as for a 3 bed, well, win the lottery.

I think that the original idea was to put it back on Monument Bridge.

York wasn' nearly razed to the ground, and before you kick off about it being xxx number of years ago just look at the rough end of the stick Hull had to endure when places like York are of 'exceptional historical significence' simply because of location, in that respect Hull has been **** on for centuries, we did lock a King out remember and I don't think we have ever been forgiven for it.

It's not just that Kemps, but there is always the dig here and there, WE KNOW THE PLACE IS A ****HOLE IN CERTAIN AREAS but Hull has, as far as I remember, and that is about 60 years had had to endure this put down, sensitive maybe, but I had it back in the 60's when travelling away to see City, 'you are from where?' But as I have said on a number of occasions, if Hull could only have had the investment other 'Northern Powerhouse' cities have had over the years then it might have been a different story, But we can't even get a deffinate answer about Castle St, that horrendous main artery from Hull docks to the outside world, if it will be upgraded to something like passable as a main road, we couldn't even get a bridge over it for pedestrians in time for the COC. Meanwhile London has Crossrail, H2 something or other has got the go ahead and of course this 'Northern Powerhouse' doesn't include Hull very much, electrification, yes, but only as far as Selby ffs.

All over Europe cities were far more badly damaged than Hull, and Liverpool. Hull wasn't nearly razed to the ground. It had a lot of buildings with damage, different being damaged to being destroyed. They were rebuilt by the 1960s in Europe and elsewhere. Try telling a visitor from Hamburg, Cologne, Warsaw or St Peters burg about how Hull suffered and see if the can keep a straight face.
Hull had 4,000 tons of bombs dropped on it in 6 years. That place we played a friendly in Germany the other year, similar size to Hull, had 10,000 tons of bombs dropped on it in 2 nights.

Someone else who can't deal with a few home truths. There's a tailback on the A63 tonight. "What do you expect? We are still coming to terms with being bombed over 70 years ago".

Home truths maybe, the tailback on the A63, the lack of investment I go on about has come home to roost as the infrastructure cannot cope with todays demands, how about a 6 lane road, in each direction like the M25? And when was a new road, a major road that is, built in Hull, and I don't mean just a bypass, even the motorway ends more than 20 miles short of Hull

This country received more Marshall aid than France or Germany. How the Labour Government spent it was down to them. Perhaps Attlee deprived Hull of funds because they locked the king out centuries before.
Poland didn't receive Marshall Aid because the USSR wouldn't let Eastern Europe accept it. So Warsaw, the most badly damaged city in Europe didn't get any to help it. Neither did St Petersburg.

About as much as Hamburg, Cologne, Warsaw, or St Petersburg had to do with my original post, which was about York.

No, you brought the war into it, saying Hull was razed to the ground, which it wasn't. And then coming out with incorrect stuff about Marshall Aid.

Presumably someone from Yokohama or Hiroshima can Top Trump everyone in this 'my war damage was worse than your war damage' tussle.
