They've admitted it was a refereeing mistake. Was for encroachment and should have been a retaken pen. Just on SSN.
What's even more worrying is that 4 professional referees got together on the touchlines and deliberated what had happened and still came to the wrong conclusion. All 4 should be struck off. They are ****ing lucky that we won the game because it would go ballistic if we hadn't. Now it will just be forgotten about.
I'm a ref myself and you can understand refs making mistakes, but not knowing the LOTG inside out at that level is shocking.
Just heard on 5 live about this.... https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...omen-u19-replay-norway-referee-penalty-howler Could have got very interesting if we hadn't won, considering UEFA have set the precedent for having part of a game replayed last time it happened.
Missing decisions is one thing - I think I read that referees on average get around 33% of decisions right (yep, that low). But as you rightly say not knowing a very, very fundamental law is absolutely unforgivable. Everyone, every player, the coaching staff all knew the decision. Just a minor point, btw....what the fck is Gayle doing there?!?!?!
Especially when the 4 officials are all in communucation with each other. There is no excuse. As others have said, he was lucky we won. Otherwise it would have really kicked off.
My dad was a ref and I do usually have some sympathy for them. The reason my language is so bad is partly cos of going to watch games he was reffing and hearing what everyone was shouting at him. No excuse for tonight though. Deserves action to be taken, especially since all 4 of them didn't know the right law between them The standard of reffing has been shocking this season, but I think it has been made worse by refs trying to make a name for themselves by trying to prove they can stand up to the big crowd and reputation.
Back to the OP... lots of fans. Plus we won again (remember that?) and got another clean sheet (remember that?). Happy Days.
