You don't know me or anyone i'm talking about so if you truly believe the ****e you are spouting then i'm afraid you are not worthy of a reasonable response, people like YOU, will never comprehend why anyone would join the forces i'm afraid, that's probably why you never joined.

Just be grateful we don't have national service or chumps like you would have to go all conscientious objector just to have someone else do the dirty work that you are too good for. Smart arses like you would have had the tar beaten out of them and left within a day with your tail between your legs.

I wouldn't be foolish enough to join up in the first place, so I'm not finding myself invading a country plundering it's resources displacing over 3,000,000 of it's people on the pre-text of some imaginary WMD's, or invading a country because of an attack on America carried out by 0 of their populous simply so we could put an oil-man in charge for a while, and he could build the pipeline the previous rulers didn't want, and then hand over power to a smack dealer. I wanted to be in the army as a kid, but by the time I was 13 or 14 I knew the score.

And please explain how the British Army has made us all in britain safer by poking a stick in the hornets nest of the middle-east, which is a bit of a hornets nest anyway due to the British and their love of straight lines on maps.

Not everybody fawns over people who accepted pay and accomadation to travel round the world fighting people they have absolutely no quarrel with. He is entitled to his opinion. The army and those who take the money are not above criticism. The attitude in Britain were by soldiers are treated like heroes while partaking in wars for oil and other economic reasons is appalling. No one is forced to join, there is no conscription. The million odd civillians killed in Iraq since the invasion are directly the fault of the US, British and any other army that was there. Each individual soldier is as much to blame as Bush and Blair.

you're right about me being a conscientious objector, at least in the case of Afghanistan and Iraq, I would rather go to prison than fight on the side of evil, the true soldier heroes of those wars are those who refused to fight for the greed of their countrymen. There is no excuse for ignorance.

He can criticise the Army all he likes but when he makes a judgment call on my character despite knowing absolutely hee haw about me then I will tell him (did you miss that?) He is making a statement about MY character based upon my career choice.

He can spout all the pishy theories on why countries were invaded for all the live long day and I probably would not respond, but when I am accused of something on a personal level I will respond.

Especially when he recently said this one another thread:

No doubt if you were a German of military age between 1939 and 1945 you would've thought you were fighting on the 'good' side, just as millions of them did. The very sad thing about being brainwashed is that the victim will never believe he/she is one and will be convinced they made all the decisions themselves. This brainwashing starts at birth and continues all the way through your life.

"on the side of evil" <doh>

I'm going to give you one example of what "evil" is.

When I was in Baghdad, I lived on his old hunting and fishing estate which became known as Camp Victory, just on the outskirts and quite close to Baghdad International Airport. Now one of the people who worked with us was the former director of Iraq State Television, a very well spoken man who talked frankly about life under Saddam. He proceeded to tell us a few things but a couple of stories honestly sickened me. The very estate which we were on was frequented fairly regularly by Saddam and members of the Ba'ath Party at weekends and one of their favourite pastimes was shooting the workers who tended his estate. Basically, they were the "game" which they hunted and they would routinely place bets to see who could shoot a worker at a tricky distance. When the "fun" was over, other workers were sent to collect the dead and throw them in the man-made lake which the villas surrounded. On the same estate was a building called "The Perfume Palace" where whores were kept to keep the "hunters" happy. Now when the whores became pregnant, they were executed and dumped in the lake too, normally having had the foetus cut out first.

Now to me, that is evil, not the pish which you come out with <ok>

Cutting peoples body parts off is pretty evil too.

The Ministry of Defence is investigating claims that a soldier sliced fingers off dead Taliban fighters to keep as souvenirs.

It is understood the allegations relate to a soldier from the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders who was serving in Afghanistan.

The claims centre on the battalion's last tour of duty in the country.

It was deployed in Helmand from September 2010 until April this year, tasked with training Afghan police.

Soldiers from the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, 5th Battalion, The Royal Regiment of Scotland, are recruited in Scotland but based in Canterbury, in Kent.

Douglas Young, executive chairman of the British Armed Forces Federation, said he was "shocked" to learn of the investigation.

He added: "While the facts still need to be established, if there turns out to be anything in these claims, clearly the MoD are correct to treat the matter very seriously.

"The alleged behaviour is totally out of kilter with the ethos of the armed forces."

The MoD would not be drawn on whether the soldier in question had been suspended pending the investigation's findings.

A defence spokesman said: "This is a very serious allegation and it would be wrong for us to comment. An investigation is ongoing."

Not at all. Just showing that evil can be found in all armed groups. By their very nature groups that are set up to kill other people will attract people that are predisposed to savagery. I mean ALL armed groups.

I don't condone a soldier cutting the fingers off a dead Taliban but on an "Evil scale" that's pretty low down it.

Invading a country and that invasion being the catalyst for a million deaths is pretty evil in my book.

and who helped put this 'madman' in power and supported him until his invasion of Kuwait (historically part of Iraq since time forgotten, until a british penchant for straight lines annexed it), and then made a 10 year deal with him for cheap oil to leave him there? how may meglamaniac puppets have the west supported, and still support, around the globe for financial reasons? currently half the governments of the west are still trading with the syrians, and we are still suppporting the bahrainii security forces, talk about transparent hypocrisy.
