  1. The problem for Wenger is that he has grossly under-estimated the rivalry between Arsenal and Spurs.

I am willing to bet that those fair-weather plastic Gooners would not be so hard on him if Arsenal's demise hadn't coincided with our ascendency.

... maybe it's just that you haven't been rivals during his tenure ... as the relative trophy hauls (or in your case rather empty keepnet) attest ... <whistle>

  3. Your "scratch the surface" knowledge of footy is letting you down, here, I'm afraid, Fosse.

There has always been a rivalry between Arsenal and Spurs, with the two North London derbies among the biggest in the domestic calendar, regardless of the gulf that used to exist between our clubs (us in the 50s, 60s and 70s, and Arsenal during the 80s, 90s and noughties).

Most of the Gooners who are now jumping up and down and pissing on Wenger's legacy were still in nappies, or had not been born, when Wenger turned Arsenal into the dominant force in North London. They grew complacent on their arrogance, and now they are acting like spoilt brats because the gravy train has come to a shuddering halt.

Why the hell do you feel any kind of sympathy for these bell-ends, Fosse? You should be rejoicing in their self-inflicted misery!

My 'knowledge of footy' is hardly the point, is it? ... although I've been watching football in the UK 'live' since 1969 and it's pretty good I think ...plus football does exist outside of North London <doh>

Arsene Wenger on the other hand has been managing in the UK since around 1997 ... and during that time Chelsea have been perhaps the only plausible local rival to Arsenal being London's dominant force .. Spurs have won the odd derby perhaps ... but that's about the scale of it... let's be honest.<ok>

... so back to my point ... what was there for Wenger to underestimate?? .. if he retires tomorrow he will do so with a record of Arsenal fundamentally out performing Spurs through his tenure at the club ..20 years!.

... and who said I feel any kind of sympathy for Arsenal fans? .. football is about enjoying the good times when they happen and taking it on the chin when it doesn't ..... but sticking by your club. I have little sympathy for anybody that can't do that, it's fair to say.

... but the funniest thing, let's face it, is watching you having multiples over the momentous acheivement of .... possibly finishing above Arsenal <doh> ...tragic comedy of the highest order <laugh> ... I sincerely hope you actually win something instead ... or as well as that finish... <laugh>

  5. To be fair, I didn't catch most of that, Fosse, but this comment did stick out rather glaringly.

It isn't only Spurs that Wenger's Arsenal has out-performed - domestically, at any rate.

But, I can absolutely assure you, Fosse, that the majority of today's fair-weather plastic Gooners - the ones who are currently pissing all over Wenger's legacy - have their opinion tainted by the fact that Spurs is in the ascendency, and the fear that Arsenal will now languish in our shadow.

You and I probably have a greater respect and appreciation for what Wenger has achieved, than do these fair-weather plastic Gooners!

Absolutely mate ... only Sir Alex Ferguson has been more successful over the last 20 years ... but you are the only one banging on about a rivalry ... and in footballing terms there really hasn't been one ... United, City and Chelsea have been Arsenal's rivals over that period ... not really anyone else ... although there was one other team that has managed to win the title during that period I believe <whistle>

Isn't your knowledge letting you down too?

70s: Arsenal did the double in 71. Arsenal reached Cup finals in late 70s when Spurs were relegated.

Arsenal finished ahead of Spurs every single season from 70/1-79/80 bar one year.

Also would you say Arsenal owned Spurs in the 80s? Spurs were a good side in the 80s, and Arsenal only started winning trophies again under GG in late 80s.

Is there a possibility HIAG is a Johnny-come-lately?

Why would you need to check your facts?

If you supported Spurs in the 70s you would know anyway

  15. To be fair, I was very young in the 70s. I don't really remember much about them.

I do remember that Greavsie used to play for us, just before he joined Chelsea.

  18. Only in your dreams, Pixie!

Your entire little world is slowly crumbling around you, and yet you still cling to a notion that, somehow, you remain in control.

I am sure that shrinks have a term to describe your aberrant behaviour.

What are you on about ? This whole page (and indeed whole thread) is littered with you being owned by fans of various clubs.
You do realise that people only have to scroll up the page to read the pummelling you are taking ?
