I'd direct you to this section of Pochettino's pre-match presser for how it should be dealt with:

Before any other game this would be seen as poor form by Clement.
In the buildup to playing us? It's quite ****.
He's relatively new to management, but he's not new to the game. It's disrespectful, especially given Clement's ties to Real.

    Yeah, right.
Which is why Conte is refusing to comment on the Sanchez gossip, and Pochettino added
another display (to the already immense season-long demonstration) of Narrative (TM)
crushing when asked about Luke Shaw.

Why conte and poch are both real gents.

Seriously though, i still think its a mountain out of a molehill and i can accept PNPs view that it was **** and disrespectful (not in my opinion but i can understand you are defending the club), it's entirely different from PNPs original view that clement has said Alli needs to move on :p

Just to clarify, I'm not saying it to defend Spurs.
I'd be equally critical if he said it about Hazard, for example. Which he did! <laugh>

Harry Redknapp had virtually the exact opposite reaction to Pochettino and it's mirrored here with Clement.
When asked about almost any player, he would respond in a predictable and nearly uniform manner.
"Mr X is a triffic talent and I'm sure he'll have a great career, but he's contracted to Club Z, so I wouldn't like to comment."

Now, I'm sure some people will read that and wonder what's wrong with it and they'd be right, for the most part.
The problem is that it won't be reported like that and both Clement and Redknapp are experienced enough to know that.
The headline's going to be "Redknapp In X Transfer Speculation!", isn't it? We all know it, so they have to.

The papers were always full of Spurs transfer gossip during his time at the club and he played up to it, somewhat.
He tried to keep the press on his side as much as possible, which can be something of a double-edged sword, unfortunately.
The wheeler dealer interview's one example of that, in my opinion.

That's fine. I still think its mountain out of molehill stuff.

The media will deliberately twist the words said and i can see where you are coming from. I think i've already said the smart thing is to say no comment but i understand some people just like to talk. It's not upto the managers not to have their words twisted though.

Might be an extreme example but it's not a girls fault she got raped even though she went out in scrimpy clothing. It's the mans fault. However like you i would err on the side of caution and if i ever had a daughter i would tell her to dress up and be careful (like a no comment)

It's not a big deal, by any means, it's just a bit ****.

Not sure your analogy's entirely accurate, so I'll suggest a slightly different one.
Clement's effectively arranged a boxing match with Mike Tyson. He can't then complain if he gets punched.
He's not doing something that has a vague risk attached. He's doing something with full knowledge of the outcome.
Are the press ****? Yep. That doesn't free him of any responsibility, though.

Hoping for an Everton win this evening to continue the weekend's beautiful set of results. 3 points for the Toffees would all but end United's faint chances of catching us, and would push the scum down into 7th.

Mourinho's had a big moan about teams parking the bus at Old Trafford in tonight's programme, apparently.
It's been interpreted as a dig at West Brom, who turned up and did what they always do away.

In unrelated news, Watford have gone 1-0 up at home with their first shot on target... <whistle>

Awful defending. Nice finish though, especially from a centre-half.

Lingaard takes a bullet to the knee there. They really should do more about banning known snipers from public gatherings.

And now he's been shot in the head. This really has to stop. Don't United employ security personnel?
