Found this posted on PL board

I think he would have made that 'joke' with a male reporter personally. I don't think he was happy with the questioning so decided to say what he did. Maybe i'm too old skool but people are too sensitive nowadays. At worse he was totally inappropriate but to start calling it sexist is just people being PC

From the sounds of it she wasn't insulted and if she was then there should have been an uproar.

Or she was being professional and thus limited in her response but yes most likely she didn't take it seriously or even felt like "ha! I got under his skin there". I agree that things have swung too far towards "safe space" mentality. The fact he did it after he thought the camera was off suggests he knew it was an inappropriate comment joke or not though.

It would be interesting to see if he'd "joked" like this with anyone else after an interview he didn't like.

There's a happy medium here..don't have to pussy foot but also display some professional respect too. Same goes the other way round..journalists should ask difficult questions as that's their job. It isn't their job just to wind up a player or manager for ratings or hits though.

I'd suggest he wouldn't have said it to someone like Souness, Reid or Shearer though lol

    I think so too.

he said you are cheeky and be careful next time you are here.

I would say ok... not sure if he'd have said it to another person of a different sex if they were young and uppity but who knows.

I agree at this point the thing is down to people jumping on the few cases that surface and making a scene. I'm not sure if it was anyhting or not frankly but don't really care.

the more he gets ****ted on that bitter bluenosed manc lover the better <laugh>

    (joking of course)

the fact is the questio asked was a clear cheeky dig at a guy who'd staring down the barrell of a very bad position... but its the hack's feelings that everyone is concerned about... thats more sexist than anything.

the poor old manc loving bluenose clearly had his own feeling hurt as she ripped out his heart and stamped on it in front of everyone yet the press are on about his response... clear sexism.

True but he would have probably said it to the likes of TY from arsenalfantv or to his mate (if that indeed was a mate). All i know is that whatever it was whether it was inappropriate banter or him being serious, the two of them got on with it amicably and there was nothing to it.

I haven't seen the interview so i'm not sure if she was winding him up but he's probably stressing cause hes up **** creek at sunderland is doing a terrible job.

She'd probably kick the wimps head in if it would have turned into a proper fight.

Just as well for Moyesey she's not a bully.

she specifically asked a question about whether he was feeling nervous that the sunderland chairmans was in the stands on the day of the game... insinuating he was basically there to sack the guy or something

cheeky as sin IMO. you'd not ask that kind of thing if you had much experience or wanted future interviews. what he shoudl have done was answer her then put her on a ban list right after. The press officer for sunderland would be right there. all it should take is she's out, never allow her in again and i'm sure that kind of thing occurs all the time with young hacks trying it on to make a name.

TBF he said even though she was a woman she'd get a slap, so he's treating her as equal to a man in slapability

The FA have asked him to explain the comment to them - they don't understand the concept of treating her the same as a man

When was the last time he said it to a man though?

Surely if he normally said these things, he wouldn't need to qualify it when talking to her ....

He'd make a good stand-in for Pennywise in Stephen King's "It".

Can I ask a SERIOUS question for a moment now... theres another thread for utd v everton right so this is a serious non wumming question for our manc contributors

Theres all of two top players there... imo two. De gea and zlatan. now ok theres two on the bench but still

there is a reason utd were top and are now not.. and it does read pretty starkly there. that defence... the midfielders...

it'll still beat everton by at least two goals mind.
