Did the Height of the Reeds event this morning. Underwhelmed really. Got a pair of headphones to walk across the bridge with, playing very pleasant sounds. That was it. But I am maybe uncultured

    You are ;)
Did Opera North have something to do with it?

As an aside we got tickets for the Flood Part 2 thing today (the one on Vicky Dock)
They'd sold out ages ago so they must have held some back for sale

The streets of Hull are busting with out of towners now. Different accents everywhere, the place is buzzing. You only have to take a walk around the city centre on a given day, Saturdays especially, to see it.

The challenge is to make sure it endures and continues to evolve.

Out of towners coming into Hull and using its facilities? Some people used to get upset over that not so long ago.<laugh>

We were planning to do that sometime this week but the website is saying that it is sold out for the duration of the month - a tad frustrating but great to see another event being so successful.

Never really been a fan, but for those who are, The Chords are on at Raine Club on April 29th...

Other than The Jam, all the mod revival bands in the late 70's were cack.

The Jam were simply awsome. The energy they created when live took my breath away. But as a young mods we also latched on to the Ska thing. The Specials, Selector and suchlike. That made up for ****e like The Purple Hearts and The Circles. Nine Below Zero were good.

I always thought Nine Below Zero sounded like Chas and Dave sped up.

The Specials were brilliant, The Beat were okay as well, I didn't rate the others, original Jamaican Ska is far better.

My brother in law used to be signed to Two Tone, this is him singing (he ****ing hates this song) <laugh>

In the early 80's they signed a few bands that were more funk than ska, The Higsons was another.

Dear me, how weak is that?

In the late 70's, all those with anything about them were in punk bands. FACT.
